THANK YOU!!! :D I am pretty darn happy although I probably shouldn't count my chickens just yet. Really, truly over the moon at the prospect of being finally free and on our feet. Thought I would share a pic of the baby I have had to sell - she has been my pride and joy but it's time for her to have a new home and she is a bit OTT for life here!

I will definitely remember her fondly!

No worries C-R and DH, I will definitely be sticking around here. I have a lot of saving and other things to accomplish once the debt journey comes to an end.....plus I am going to be here to cheerlead! :D

HOK3Y: I'm sorry to hear things are difficult for you at the moment. Personally, I couldn't even contemplate moving somewhere my heart didn't want to be, even if it meant I was financially worse off.

As for that ring, it is most certainly over the top for life in Yorkshire, buy yourself a whippet instead, m'duck. That way you'll have to stay. ;)

Thanks, Alex. It's been a difficult decision and it still rests on whether Mr HOK3Y can find a decent job. There is no point resting my heart somewhere that will ultimately trample me financially. Would you want to spend your pension years in a council house and struggling to heat it in the winter? That's where I am headed here. My parents are both gone and so are the older generations of my family whom I loved so dearly. I don't fit in here anymore, no matter how much the rolling hills feel a part of me. My children will never live here which is probably for the best given the current forecast for the future economically. No matter how I slice it, remaining here is flat out crazy.

Now, if I win the lottery then that's another ballgame! :D

Staring down Thursday and anticipating Friday......oh how I wish it were the weekend already! Hope everyone is having a great debt busting week.

HOK3Y: I understand your fears for the future. However, considering how quickly you're clearing your debts and the accumulation of savings and assets in such a short space of time I doubt your fears are truly rational. If you were to sell the house in the US, you'd have a great deposit towards a nice home in Yorkshire. Alternatively, you could perhaps rent the American house out? Though I'm not sure that would be wise considering how far away you live.

Who says that your children won't move from the US? Whilst perhaps it is off the cards now, they may find they would like to study here. As for our economic future, nobody can really know what the future holds and somehow I doubt the future in America is predicted to be any more prosperous than ours.
