    Thanks pap! :D

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!!! Hope everyone is having a lovely day with those who matter most. We are having a quiet day: We've just finished a jigsaw that took us 3 days to complete.....didn't realize how hard it would be until we started it......and then we had to get it finished as it was taking up the dining table and we do need somewhere to eat today!

I bought hubby a cufflink storer and a pair of red telephone box cufflinks. He got me a sterling silver Yorkshire rose pendant which I am tickled pink with. Sitting here chilling out and getting ready to throw the turkey in the oven. Will probably take a walk at some point.

Wishing all my fellow DFWs a wonderful family day, with some yummy food, and lots of love - its all that matters in the end. Merry, merry Christmas!

Best Christmas present? Mr HOK3Y's dad just called to say he's sent us an extra $200......which takes the cc under $1500 and the overall debt under $12k! Whoop! Bring on January!

    Hi brizzle and thank you!

Getting ready to take a walk in the city of Lincoln before the crowds reappear tomorrow. We have had the most wonderful break and can't believe we have to go home tomorrow. Our flat isn't going to feel so homely after being here! Well, it has just strengthened our resolve to make every penny count in our lives. Both of us are more determined than ever to turn our lives around financially.

And 2014 is going to be our year!!!!

The credit card should be completely gone by the end of January which will make us unsecured debt free. Then it's just a matter of hammering the car loan. We should be completely debt free by late spring. Then it's time to start looking at getting as many pennies in the bank as is humanly possible......

Wishing all my fellow DFWs a mellow boxing day and clarity of mind for setting goals for the New Year. Let's make 2014 a memorable one!

Well I am quite pleased with myself: Headed into Lincoln and found Mr HOK3Y a new flat cap and a thick sweater for an absolute song in the sales. I have been itching for something sparkly and was determined to treat myself for my 40th. Those who know me in real life know that this is my Achilles heel - I am a total diamond junkie and have owned some insane pieces. One of which is a 3.65ct (yes, one stone) yellow diamond ring which is on consignment and has been for the last year and a half. This should give you an idea of how dangerous it is to take me anywhere near a good quality jewellers!!

So, I think Mr H was a bit worried and probably rightly so tbh. Imagine his delight when I walked into Goldsmiths (and no I dont consider them a good jewellers but they were open and the good ones weren't!!) and spied a sterling silver ring with a cushion cut yellow cz and white pear side stones......and it fit perfectly when it came out of the case.......SOLD!!! I think it's safe to say that the bullet was dodged and the piece is sufficiently sparkly to keep me happy for the foreseeable future! What could have easily been a 4 figure purchase ended up costing less than £40! :D

Plus we found 24p in roadkill! :D

So the rest of the afternoon will be spent chilling out in front of the fire, baking scones, and enjoying the last evening of our vacation. Can't believe how fast it has flown. Hope everyone else is having a lovely boxing day.

Last morning of our vacation and I am sitting in the jacuzzi tub bleeding every last drop of relaxation from our time here. It has been a magnificent week of peace, quiet, and harmony. Alas and alack, we must head out in a couple of hours and I can't say that there's much peace or harmony outside right now......it's blowing a pretty nasty gale!!

Today is 2 years since I lost my father but it is not weighing heavy. The date doesn't really matter and he would hate for it to spoil how we feel about Christmas. I just acknowledge that today is the day and move on. He would be very proud of his 'little'un' sorting her debts out - he struggled with his own debts for years before he passed.

Just a few more days of 2013. I am looking forward to kissing it goodbye and moving on to 2014 - I have a feeling it's going to be good to me! I'm going to make sure of it! Lots of love and luck to my fellow DFWs!

If anyone is interested, here is where we stayed over Christmas. Sheer heaven. http://www.manorhousestables.co.uk/accommodation/1-the-hayloft-2-2/

Well, we are back home and, although we were sad to leave the sanctuary of the hayloft, it has only strengthened our resolve to get what we want from this life. This is only the beginning. Life is on the up!

Wandered into town this afternoon and bought all my Christmas wrapping paper for next year dirt cheap. Also found 36p in roadkill and deposited my birthday money from my sister. Also discovered that my bank has given me £75 after I complained to them about some shoddy service I received last year! Very happy about that!

Pennies (and pounds!) do come from all sorts of unexpected places! :)
