I hate debt - it's made me miserable for my entire adult life. Taking charge and taking back my life.....and taking as many friends and family with me as I can!

Good luck Hok3y. You sound like you're in the right frame of mind to get this tackled. One day at a time, one payment at a time, it's all the right direction. Xxxx
  • Good luck HOK3Y! It will be a bumpy road but we'll all get there in the end!

Thank you wegle and HDTH - it does the heart good to have people stop by and say hello. :)

Doing really well today - I have turned my hand to matched betting (not for the faint of heart) and am already well up in the black and looking at pulling in an additional £70 or so this weekend. My accounts brain has definitely been of great help with this. Also have a carboot to go to and sell some extra junk from the house on Sunday plus my Ebay listings are looking at churning out another £40+ in my direction tomorrow. Every penny helps when you commit to using even the pennies to pay down debt. Never been so happy to find 20p in my sofa today! Put it away in my sealed pot. Hoping to store away about £100 before Christmas and then the whole lot is getting slammed off my US cc - can't wait!

Well done for mastering the matched betting. I looked into the thread a few months ago and my brain completed melted!! Think I'll leave that up to the pros!!

Hi wegle, well I will say that my brain threatened to melt the first time I read it! I understood the principle (although I am sure my background helped me grasp that quicker than most) but what was terrifying to me was actually using the bookie's websites. Very intimidating at first. I have been talking to my brother in law about it and hope to get him started with it soon also. When I first looked at it, I considered putting out a message for someone who lives close to me to hold my hand through the website use! But I have it down now - only made one mistake - which cost me about £30 so you have to understand that a wrong click or two can certainly cost you, but I've made that back plus about £25 with a chunk more set to fall into my accounts over the weekend. Definitely on a bit of a roll! If you think your brain can take it, it's worth reading that thread a couple of times, ask the experts for help when needed (I had to do this a few times and they were very good to me), and then proceed only when you are sure and triple check everything!

Hello TTGU, I figure 'determined' is the only way I'll ever get rid of it - and if I can find a way to get rid of it quicker, then I will!

Just raided coat pockets, spare handbags, the "man-drawer" and found an additional £1.41 in shrapnel for my sealed jar. Also 30 Euro cents which I've bundled away with the rest of our Euro coins. I also note we have a fair amount in USD coins. If anyone is off the US and would like a really good exchange rate for some coins......:D
