Yeah, but that's unfair. Girls float.scubaangel wrote: »or even more amusing failing to swim against the current

More specifically fat girls float
And as a child I was undeniably fat most of the time. Mainly ineptitude, they all thought they could swim didn't seem to realise that doggy paddle wouldn't be enough to swim against the current at the bottom of even a relatively small waterfall.
No for most of them stupid wasn't a choice it was genetic and mostly they've not gained in intelligence or common sense since then.
On the whole my parents choosing to holiday with their friends and as a result their sons made me much prefer being in school since summer holidays meant two weeks stuck on a campsite with between 7 and 11 boys around my age who hated having me there as much as I hated being there since they thought I should have been spending time with their sisters - all of whom are at least 2 years younger than my sister and at 10 noone wants to spend their holidays with 5 and 6 year olds! It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

No, actually girls in general float. Used to irritate me as my sister could just lie back in water and float round about to the level of her ears. I had to keep swimming or get acquainted with the bottom...scubaangel wrote: »And as a child I was undeniably fat most of the time. Tends not to happen, no. I've got far more knowledge than I ever had as a child (you'll be relieved to hear), but the quickness of thought and the concentration is far poorer.
Though having said that, when I play games now, I'm blatting (what sounds like) 13 year olds all over the map. Modern kids must be *really* stupid... :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:scubaangel wrote: »On the whole my parents choosing to holiday with their friends and as a result their sons made me much prefer being in school since summer holidays meant two weeks stuck on a campsite with between 7 and 11 boys around my age who hated having me there as much as I hated being there since they thought I should have been spending time with their sisters - all of whom are at least 2 years younger than my sister and at 10 noone wants to spend their holidays with 5 and 6 year olds!

Thankfully the parents all knew I disliked younger children intensely even then...plus some of the boys were a couple of years older and considered old enough to babysit on the rare nights that the parents went to the campsite bar instead of drinking buckets of wine around our camp areas (these trips were either Eurocamp big tent type things or static caravans).
Although I guess some of the parents of the boys show just where their brains come from - one of them once told his Mum he'd been locked in the nightclub toilets as he's drunk that much he passed out and didn't get found until morning to cover up for the fact he'd pulled and gone home with an older woman. Said mother still believes his story to be true...It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

You don't seem to have enjoyed much of these holidays apart from the occasional abseiling and swimming - or is that being unfair?"Follow the money!" - Deepthroat (AKA William Mark Felt Sr - Associate Director of the FBI)

Pretty much....
Very much.
And none of it unless I was away from my family and friends of the family. I suspect an entire childhood of not matching up to said friends of the families sons, and then my slim, athletic, outgoing sister meant I was often not happy which just pushed even further in to my shell causing the only too predictable cycle. It's probably the reason I found things like swimming, scuba and horse riding were so important to me, they were things I could do and was/am good at but the other kids in the group didn't do either because they couldn't (I vividly recall three of the lads doing trial scuba dives and just not "getting" it to the point of nearly drowning) or wouldn't - horse riding was a girls thing. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

And back from the work stuff, with two interviews for other jobs pencilled in and an area manager from a new contract very interested in finding out if I was willing to move away from home again....It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

If the money is right I guess.

I have to admit to not paying very much attention when we were doing the introductions first thing so I know the contract he works on but not the region he works in. So I'll stick to researching for the two interviews I have - the first I don't think will be something I want to pursue but they contacted me direct after seeing my CV on reed so I figure it's worth having a look. The second is the one down south so I need to make sure I can get a day off to go down for it.It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Interview in the south confirmed for my day off so at least I don't need to worry about my area manager giving me a day's holiday (and if I get it then it means thats one less notice day I have to work since I'll obviously want to finish asap to prepare to move - and nothing to do with my disliking the actual job of course). It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.
