I ordered my OH the Man Utd away shirt on Wednesday and I noticed they added the mug for £1, which made me check previous orders I've placed with them (both last year) and they both came with free mugs. Its really bad how they're just adding items and hoping you don't notice.
Though, the mugs are a good size for a gravy mug!0 -

I think this thread may well be doing Sports Direct some good. Loads of people including myself have just visited their website to see what this is all about!0 -

Or not that much good, lots of people may have gone on to the site, put something in a basked, gone to check out and then abandoned the order, the more people do that and let them know why the better chance that this practice will be stopped0 -
I have just put a couple of items in the basket on this site, registered and it added the magazine to mine! :mad:Striving to clear the mortgage before it finishes in Dec 2028 - amount currently owed - £26,322.670

I made an order a few weeks ago and it added a mug for 99p but I noticed it to remove it. Seems a bit !!!! of them, don't really understand why they would even produce mugs in the first place. I got the £1 magazine free with my order though...0

I like their mugs and even buy them because they are the biggest I can find. That said - I got a free mug with my order last year and was chuffed. Wouldn't have wanted to be charged for it without my knowledge though....maybe I was and just didn't notice.0

I posted on their Facebook group about them putting in the £1 magazine into the website shopping basket automatically. They wrote back and said:
"Hi. The magazine is clearly featured in the overview of your order at a charge of £1. The option of removing the magazine is available at the check out. Once the magazine has been removed it will not be added to future orders. Sorry for any inconvenience caused."
I pointed out that it was easy to miss something you hadn't put in yourself - and that they wouldn't send staff round a bricks and mortar store slipping physical magazines into customers' baskets.0 -
They're still at it. At the moment it adds:
"SportsDirect Fantastic Value Magazine and Free Giant Mug (Go to your Bag to remove)"
They must have had complaints to put the last bit on. How about just not putting it in in the first place!
Have they got warehouses full of these giant mugs they want to get rid of?!?!0 -
I ordered twice last year and got a free mug both times - quite big orders.
This thread prompted me to go and check, and they were indeed both free, as well as the postage. Mind you they are still both showing as "with courier" which isn't so clever.
Those mugs are huge!
I ordered this year, well New Years Day.
My order wasn't so big - just 10p
Just checked my invoice.
Goods 10p
Delivery FREE :T (it was a special promo at the time)
Only hint of mug on invoice was "Please Enjoy Your Free Gift"
GRAND TOTAL 10p :rotfl:
Don't let Sports Direct take you for a mug ... just take the mug off them :beer:0
