Likewise if I could afford to run round in an Aston Martin Vantage I probably wouldn't own a MondeoWhat if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0 -

Whenever you read a thread on girly cars the MX5 is almost always listed as one of the examples.
Can you show me where in any even remotely reputable context?InsideInsurance wrote: »
Seems there are a lot of guys here that are concerned about possibly appearing emasculated by the fact they happen to like a girly car.
No, theres a lot of guys on here who know its in know way seen as a girl car by anyone who knows about cars. Thus poking at those who do is like shooting fish in a barrel.InsideInsurance wrote: »
Guess the mid life crisis makes some guys insecure about these though.
Not in the least. Just bemused by how immature and inaccurate some peoples views are.
Personally, i buy and drive a car because it impresses me, not because it impresses others.0 -

Not really comparing like with like though are you?
Thats like saying i wouldnt drive an £80K 911 because a Ferrari £180K 458 is better.0 -

I personally prefer bigger cars for "daily" use and if I wanted a fun totally impractical second car then I'd go for something more like the Atom. Plus, somewhat ironically, the wife doesn't like girly/ small/ cute cars other than to look at.
So what cars do you currently own?0 -
I don't think the MX5 is a girlie car anymore. I don't see many women driving them.
I see plenty of women in that VW EOS drop top thing and Audi convertibles. That kind of unreliable German badge engineering thing seems to attract the women folk these days.0 -
I'm sure hes a Powerfully Built Company Director with a fleet of cars at his disposal for which he always pays cash.
Lol @ Powerfully built - I assume you are talking about me personally rather than "my company"?
Not powerfully built unless short and fat is considered powerful. I am technically/ legally a company director but would never introduce myself as such. If 2 cars count as a fleet then yes, I have a fleet of cars. What I really lack is parking space otherwise I would probably have a weekend toy.
Funding for cars has varied depending on what makes most economic sense at the time.
Of cause none of the "MX5 is not girly" crew have actually answered my question on what the actual definition is of something thats "girly"0 -

LOL.
Powerfully Built Company Director is a phrase used over on Pistonheads as so many people on forums give the impression of being cash rich company directors.
It was just tongue in cheek.0 -

Ahh, ok, dont go over to Pistonheads often.
Try not to give any impression, hence ignoring the questions of what car(s) I own to avoid any accusations of bragging or fabrications etc0 -

and you keep avoiding telling everyone what you drive.0
