As an MX5 (Eunos) owner I heartily concur with the views of the other owners, above. Fabulous, reliable, cars and a welcome step back to when driving was enjoyable.
And if 'image' is that much of a problem to someone then they must be very, very sad and probably spend more time staring into a mirror than is healthy..0 -
I still miss mine, they are great, Mk2.5 still the best looking I think.
2 weeks driving round Scotland in it was a great holiday.
Remember if it not raining the roof must be off, especially if there is snow about.0 -
Imports tend o be higher spec and better preserved. They are quite mall inside and get very stuffy very quickly, air-con is a big plus in these as even in winter tey get warm and stuffy with 2 people in them.
Always check the the rear window on the soft top, and try and get one that Los has te hard top itch it, great in winter. They look completely different with soft and hard tops. Remember the drs look sportier than ty drive. Handle well but not really a lot of go (although that could be because my previous cars to mine were performance cars). Sod my mx5 as was travelling lots oth work and wanted more room and a more economical car."I AM DEATH, NOT TAXES. I TURN UP ONLY ONCE."- Terry Pratchett0 -
You can't hear the radio and the boot only carries a box of tissues, but I loved mine and plan to get another some time soon. They are the most fun for the least money, in my opinion. The bronze Mk2 is an unpopular colour and is a bit cheaper. Watch out for the hood catches -- they are quite expensive to replace (although an easy DIY job). Try not to use in ice or snow -- the rear wheel drive and light rear end makes it a bit too exciting.Je suis sabot...0

Wrote off my Mk2 a month ago (not my fault) and bought a cheap Mk1 as a temporary runabout. The Mk1 is a bit more basic but I do find it more fun to drive. Will probably spend a few quid on it now and keep it.
Paid £900 with 6 months tax and a years MOT on it.
And yes, I am in my 50s and it is a weekend toy.0 -
Had an 06 plate for a while. found it underpowered, and the visability was rubbish.
Sorry but its a girls/hairdressers car.0 -

I'm able to go for a bigger 2 seater car
What did you go for?
Why would you want bigger?0 -
the problem with the mx5 is that they just look like rustbuckets, even if they're in good condition. It's the mazda styling that gets to me - their paint is renounded for being rubbish.
If you can afford it, I would go for the honda s2000. It's a few grand more expensive, more expensive to insure but looks a lot more expensive and will not look like a hairdressers car.
the s2k is just about more impressive in every way.0 -
