We have clip & lock type flooring with real wood veneer. Although it has a thin coat of weak varnish on top (was labelled 'varnish' but disappointingly doesn't appear to give much protection) I wouldn't feel confident using anything too wet on it as I'd worry about it seeping into the wood, especially at the edges, and making it swell/warp. I've never used one of these steam mops before. Am I right in thinking it wouldn't be suitable for this type of flooring?
Have still reserved one anyway, for other floors at home, so thanks OP and everyone else who posted!0 -

Ours is same and we have used steam mop for about a year. So far so good, no sign of anything abnormal. Thing with steam mop is it's not as wet as using mop and bucket and dries so quickly.
PS: bought one each for elderly neighbours for Xmas. Last one we had was returned and replaced within 10 months but just got a refund in the end. So pleased with Vax (and at this price) I bought a spare one.0 -
B&M have packs of five Prolex microfibre steam mop cloths for £4.99, waaaay cheaper than the Vax branded ones. The're slightly smaller than the Vax ones but they fit fine (just make sure you pull them well over the 'nose' of your mop before tightening it).
I've put my Vax mop to good use, steaming off the thousands of dried-on paint splashes that were on my kitchen floor tiles - it worked a treat! I'm very pleased with mine, it heats up so quickly and I love being able to kill off nasty bacteria without using nasty chemicals!"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now"

Great, thank you!
According to the Vax website the 'coral' pads you can get leave less residue than the regular microfibre pads (they're more absorbent) so I think I'll try one of those as well. Brilliant!0 -
Just reserved one in local store, it's saying its £25 now. 3 left in Lisburn square. Hope it's still the vac model.2p or not 2p? That is the question!0
