Neighbour parked on my drive - any advice?

  • If someone parked frequently in a way that prevents me getting onto my drive, I would get my tow rope, and I pull the car out of the way.

Or I park so they can't get out, without asking me to move.

They seem a bit daft to be honest. They would save time if they blocked each other in, then they'd only have to move once for the car they've blocked when it's that car's home time, rather than at possibly multiple times a day depending on how much a certain resident needs to leave. Common sense isn't so common....

Good idea but that would mean the op committing an offence of obstruction and the law would be on the side of the other party.

It wouldn't really, if they moved it as soon as asked. Shame it took a while to find them to ask them.

If they do block you in, then from what I understand, the police will have their vehicles removed.

Where does the care home take deliveries from?

The police will just tell you it's private land and do nothing.

That's not the impression I have got from many other similar threads.

They seemed to imply that if you are blocked in then they will do something, but if you are blocked out then they won't.

So you're saying they'll drive through the fence at the end of the alley way?

That's the only thing the cars are blocking access to.

Apart from the back of all the premises on the alleyway.

Good luck with that then. They might phone and tell them to move but as they move when asked anyway nothing is really changing anyway.

The OP said that they took ages to move their cars when asked. So I suppose it depends on if the police arrive before they do move them. Or it might give them a scare if the police are ordering them to move their cars.

The oil on the driveway bit is unlikely to work, as very few modern cars leak these days

thats where your wrong, any car no matter the age can spring a leak, and if theres photo proof that when the car is photo'd at the location and stamped with date and time and then moved revealing spots of fresh oil photographed time and date stamped and only min seconds appart what judge is going to dismiss the fact that car leaked oil and contributed to damage on the drive way!.

if a car was parked in one of the first houses drives and wasnt tucked in enough causing interfierance to get the fire truck down the lane they will smash the window on the car hand brake down snap steering column and roll it out the way if neccesary! the same can be done in a street if a car not occupied and no owner near to move it and be slapped with a fine for the privi of covering a fire hydrant if shimmying it out the way is not feasable.
