Yes they can spring a leak. But unlike older cars, they rarely do these days.0 -
at this stage i would be parking behind them and then pretending not to be home... garauntee they will be really miffed and after an hour of waiting remind them how they constantly do this to you and they dont seem to mind so why is it a problem the other way round
We used to live in a house which was the end of a cul-de-sac.
Parents picking children up from the local school used to be a damn nuisance blocking our drive.
One day I got back home to find a car blocking my drive, so I parked a couple of inches from the back of the car. Went indoors and waited for the parent to get back.
I sat there for half an hour, watching her getting in and out of her car, looking round, waiting for what she presumed was another parent.
I did this a couple more times to other cars. The problem soon stopped. I guess word got round.0 -
You are allowed to stop it leaving, eg by securing your gate, (obviously to prevent further vehicles entering and generally to secure your property, unfortunate that they are the wrong side of the gate) but I think you would have to indicate who to contact to get the gate opened, and you cannot extort a ransom to do so- but you could be out when they call.
If you get locked in at a normal carpark or on a factory estate you have to wait, usually until they open again.
The first paragraph could do with a little clarification in the light of others suggesting a chain or using a vehicle.
The Protection of Freedoms Act is the one which contains the wheelclamping offence.
It also contains an offence of essentially (b)locking a vehicle in other than with a fixed barrier:
(1)A person commits an offence who, without lawful authority—
(a)immobilises a motor vehicle by the attachment to the vehicle, or a part of it, of an immobilising device, or
(b)moves, or restricts the movement of, such a vehicle by any means,
intending to prevent or inhibit the removal of the vehicle by a person otherwise entitled to remove it.
(3)But, where the restriction of the movement of the vehicle is by means of a fixed barrier and the barrier was present (whether or not lowered into place or otherwise restricting movement) when the vehicle was parked, any express or implied consent (whether or not legally binding) of the driver of the vehicle to the restriction is, for the purposes of subsection (1), lawful authority for the restriction.0 -
I think we are looking at a clear case of trespass here. Sue the blighters or let their tyres down.

You're assuming they all drive modern cars!
My 2004 Vectra leaked oil. My 2000 Astra leaked oil (yes, Vauxhalls leak oil! lol). Cars sometimes leak, regardless of age.0 -

But most don't. My 95 Astra didn't, my 2000 Zafira didn't, my 2008 Vectra doesn't.
The poster implied that most vehicles leak oil, so it would be a reliable way to see if people had been parking there. But it most cases it wouldn't be... which was my point.0 -
Lets hope the Fire Engines don't leak oil.0

It won't matter if they can't get past the parked cars0 -
Really, how are they doing that?
They are parked at the end are they not?
No - what gave you that impression, it's certainly not your reading comprehension or any sort of rational thought process. They are parked at the side in front of OP's garage (which is at the end) across OP’s drive (which isn’t) at the side in front of the garages at no 4 and 5 and even at the end there is a gate where the fire brigade could access the back of the OP’s neighbour at no1 .
