How long do you wait to be served?

Sounds like F and B's in Kidderminster on my son's last birthday!
We waited AGES for our meal. I had taken my sons and another 9 year old friend and it must have been getting close to an hour before our meals came. We had already used up eye spy/trips to the loo/sucking the helium out of the balloons to keep amused.
The place wasn't even a quarter full at the time.
Then my older son was brought the wrong meal! The waitress took it back and in the end everyone else ate theirs. Another HALF HOUR wait. After about 20 minutes she came to the table and said she could "get no sense" from the one chef so she would ask the other one...
Eventually son's pizza arrived (so he had to sit and eat it by himself as we had finished long before). His pudding was free due to his wait.
Got the bill and they had put both the wrong and the correct meals on there - good job I checked!
In all, we were in there over two hours. We were late taking my son's friend home.0 -
Never had a problem with waiting for food in f&b but both times I've had a horrendous stomach ache the next day so I don't enter the place now!
I love Strada but once we had a bad experience where we sat & had drinks, and waited for our garlic bread or something simple, it took aaaaages. Finally came & then we sat & waited almost an hour. We asked the waiter what was going on & he said its coming. Asked him again, he walked over to the chef who threw his hands in the air as if to say I have no idea about that order. So we got up & walked out.
Once in San Fran we went to Bubba Gumps & I love those restaurants but we were waiting so long just for the server to take a drinks order! And he didn't talk about the film or how the restaurant works like they normally do otherwise you wouldn't know how to use the sign on thr table to stop the waiter if you hadn't been there before. The guy was standing about chatting how he only had 20 mins left & then was off for his holiday..
Drinks came out about 20 mins later. The mains never appeared & the server clocked off. Everyone else's meals were arriving on other tables.. And even desserts we were there that long! Our new person was great, went to chase it for us & apologised. Then they came out & my fish wasn't cooked in the way I'd asked.. I told him and he said 'Jesus Christ! I am so sorry' and got me another. I was just discussing with DH that there was no way we were paying for this when the guy came over apologising profusely and said of course this is on us, order whatever you like it's all free.
We ate our meal and then left him a tip as he was a really nice guy & it was not his fault & meant we got it for free without an argument.
Just a good job I like that chain & never had a problem before or I would never go back when on holiday.0 -
Have just caught the tail end of this thread. Have never had a problem in Lincoln's F&B. (Pop in around once a month for brunch).0

Talking of San Fran, I can't remember what restaurant it was in, but the DH got served some green looking chicken....it looked like someone had killed Kermit the Frog! :rotfl: It was our first time in America, so we didn't want to make a fuss, but having been a few times now, if we got served something decidedly dodgy again, I would have no hesitation in speaking up!0 -

See, I hated that place. The waiter did the kneeling by the table thing and gave us a 'fun' quiz on the film before taking our orders! It was seriously awkward. The food wasn't worth the weirdness of being expected to discuss film trivia and told 'good job!' like a child when you knew that Forrest Gump's girlfriend was called Jenny!
It remains one of the oddest dining experiences of my life.0 -

OMG! Is this a nationwide chain or just in San Fran? If its nationwide, it's one that'll go on the avoid list for when we go end of September to Vegas. I'd hate that, and the DH would hate it even more than me! :rotfl:0 -

I saw one in Colorado, so they're not confined to SF, probably not everywhere though.

Thanks.I'd actually just googled it, and found that there's one in Vegas, right beside (if not joined onto) our hotel! Damn it, I wanna go there! That menu looks really yummy, just the kinda food I love! I thought the DH might not like it because he doesn't like shrimps etc, but there are other dishes too.
Thanks for the heads up about the quiz though....might just go in to see the look on the DH's face! :rotfl:
I'm not usually one for all this audience/customer participation, but I do love a themed restaurant! We went to one years ago, it was a 50's style diner, and we didn't have a clue that the waitress/waiters jumped on the tables and started dancing and singing....I've got to admit though, it was kinda fun!0 -

This was about 7 years ago, its possible they don't do the quiz anymore, I can't imagine it was too popular!0 -
