Colposcopy - I'm scared. (Not looking for med advice)

  • I don't mind not being told over the phone, but it's annoying that I get to the end of every day and head home and when it comes to getting to the front door I'm literally shaking because I wonder if it'll be waiting for me in the post and when it doesn't come I start to worry that it's got "lost" in the post or they've missed me on the system.

It's all completely neurotic of course, but I can't help it, the wait is truly debilitating me.

I'll keep you posted but from the look of things it's definately no news until after the weekend at the very least.

  • I can understand - I was like that for a bit...but you know what? You can't do anything about it, so let it go :) You've checked they haven't lost you, so they're on their way.

  • HBS you truly are a star, :D

Thank you that's exactly what I need to hear and indeed it's 100% right. I'm going to go home tonight knowing there is nothing coming to me before next week so I may as well relax and unwind in the mean time!

    Great new HBS.

ILLT - the waiting is tough, but really it's going to be fine or they would have told you quicker.

I found out the bad news in 3 days - so no news really is good news. sending hugs though. As HBS said, nothing you do or think will change the result now, so try to relax.
  • Thanks T2D, this support network I find myself in really does help, and I'm grateful for you for sharing your experience.

    Xmas Saver!
    Hi everyone, just an update.

I got my results through today. CIN3 changes, so the last stage before cancer, but they got all the cells so I don't need any more treatment at the moment.

I am delighted and cried with relief.

Smear test in 6 months but other than that, it's all over.

Good luck to those of you still awaiting results, and lots of love.

Thats brilliant news (in the nicest way) you got the results quick, have you got to have the 1st smear back at hospital or can you get it done at GP surgery.

  • I am back from my colposcopy.

The doctor told me my cervix isn't inflammed, it looks normal for a cervix that has already had treatment, and there was no contact bleeding during the examination. She has taken a biopsy as a few cells turned white but doesn't think that is what has caused the bleeding during sex.

She will write with the results in about four weeks.

I am bleeding a little from the biopsy, and it was quite sore at the time, but doesn't feel too bad now.
  • Hugs to you, any name - hope your mind is a little bit more at rest.

I suggest chilling out for the rest of the day :)
