That's great daisiegg. I have also made money hampers this year, one each for my niece and nephew. I haven't wrapped them yet, but they contain a moneybox, money printed toilet roll
, gold and silver chocolate coins, large gold chocolate coins, a bar of chocolate with a £50 note depicting Santa on the front, and tissues and napkins with pictures of banknotes on. The real money is clipped into an elf hat, which I bought from Home Bargains for 99p for two. They clips are actually hair clips, but they look ok with money clipped to them.
I was hoping to add a poem, so could I be cheeky and borrow yours please? I would alter the last two lines to something like 'Have a very merry Christmas, and a happy New Year' - a bit more appropriate for age 13 and 15!
I will try to post pictures if I can get my son to show me how - I'll ask him later.0 -

I finally got hold of some cellophane from a local craft shop. Yay!
Not sure how good the price was but I had a ton left over and it only cost a £1 for the roll, so I'm happy enough with it. It will just help secure everything in my Mum's hamper - it shouldn't all fall out when she unwraps it now.0 -
Nice work, Aliaslotte.
My niece's hamper completed.......A girly girl one :j
Kingfisherblue, I followed your advice mostly....just forgot to do the glue dots so as you can see the lip gloss, the teddy was supposed to be holding has fallen forward now, knocking the perfume along with it. The other long tube of hair bands, I decided to remove the packaging so everything would fit. Thank you, thank you, thank you for saving me and my sanity. :T

Hi Melly,
Most tutorials I have seen use a hair dryer. There seems to be two options of shrink wrap available - rolls and bags.
eBay has some
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=gift+basket+shrink+wrap
Candigifts also has the bags (price is higher)
http://www.candigifts.co.uk/items/PRODUCT-RANGE/WRAPPING~FILLING/SHRINK-WRAP-BASKET-BAGS/list.htm
As to how to, I would check eHow (there are videos too, for those of us who have difficulty in following written instructions :rotfl:)

Hope this helps. :cool:0 -
Some lovely looking hampers, Aliaslotte and Madeforcheapshopping. Glad the suggestions were helpful MFCS.
I was going to complete my money hampers tonight, but it was our annual Christmas entertainment for parents and public at Brownies and Rainbows tonight. It went well, lots of praise for the girls, but I am shattered. I came home, had my tea, and sat reading instead of cellophaning
I'm now sat in bed, having started planning for next term. I must be mad :rotfl:0 -
This thread is amazing. Just came across it completely by accident while looking for gift ideas.
This is going to be my first Christmas away from all my friends and family. I moved to Manchester for work but lived in Glasgow my whole life.
Anyway, I wanted to make a bunch of hampers for close friends and family, my brother is driving down next week (19th) to visit and will take any gifts back with him which is ideal as it saves on postage - it just means I only have a week to sort myself out!
Firstly and most importantly I suppose, where could I find a nice, decent size hamper? I'll need 5 or 6.
Any top tips on things to put in there welcome too - especially for my 4 year old nephew and 5 year old niece, I don't have a clue when it comes to kids! :P
Thank you again!0 -

Lady of D, you are gonna need loads of help.
Hampers - charity shops or your local B&M store or free-cycle network or go online - ebay is good.
Items for hamper - you know your people best. There are movie hampers, zombie ones, favorite things, etc, etc. For more ideas you can look up the finished hampers thread, banging ideas from previous years on there. https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/1175727
I also use Hot Deals UK locate interesting/cheap items available at the shops. http://www.hotukdeals.com/groceries/deals/hot The link is for the groceries but they have other items available.
Hope this helps you get started. :beer:0 -
