Apologies if you have answered this, but has your dog been neutered, OP?0
-
Yes, he came to us neutered and another OP asked what was he fed, he is fed a bit of a tin of chappie mixed with the dry chappie as he isn't too fussed on just the dry food. He also gets bones, the odd pigs ear and whatever chicken/beef/pork from our left overs (that would be a tablespoon full then).
I am up and down like a yo yo, I'm just so bloody mad, WHY? Had we crossed the road properly or just done something differently none if this mess would have happened.
Tonight was a barrel of laughs for my husband too. He took dog to a good sea side walk and it was full of dogs so he thought he would go to the local park. An altercation almost happened between two other sets of dogs and scampers was apparently going nuts and barking like a maniac althought he wasn't involved, THANK GOD. I think after that near miss, one of the almost fighting dogs had a good growl at scampers as my husband passed them further on in the park as he had been trying to avert all dramas, but again scampers went nuts.
My daughter, (who hadn't cried since she was 5 and had broke her collar bone) is mid getting ready for school and is worried about her puffy eyes and my son will not go near scampers. I am at a loss.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

P.s, he was muzzled on this walk btw and the whole thing just felt negative and ghastly, I think.
Our walks were such a big part of our life, scampers LOVES his walks, like, super loves them and we took him all over the place.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

To be honest I understand why you are as upset as upset as you obviously are.
Dogs do fight, sadly.
I know how horrible it is when your cute little dog turns into a murderous maniac...only too well.
My dog Jack is the sweetest, most affectionate dog. But if he meets a dog who shows the slightest shred of aggression towards him, or if it gets in his face, he's on it like a rat up a drainpipe.
He does stop when I yell at him but it's not good and upsets me as much as the other owner.
He's entire, and his bits are coming off on Monday in the hope of calming all this hassle right down.
If your dog's already neutered though I don't know what else to suggest, apart from a short lead when another dog approaches...and when the owner says her dog's friendly, point out that yours isn't.0 -
OP, have you heard of the dogpages forums? They have a 'training and behaviour' section and there are so many experienced rescue dog owners there I bet you'd get inundated with help. Plenty of the posters on there have rehabilitated aggressive dogs too.
Its here in case you don't know it already: http://www.dogpages.org.uk/forums/index.php0 -
Thanks op, will check it out now.Total debt £20,000 Northern Rock loan:eek:

It can take a while for a dog to recover from an incident like that too. Read about trigger stacking - I'd spend a few days with very quiet walks, trying to avoid other dogs so he can have a few days to come down from the stress0

My dog is selectively dog reactive! We've started clicker training and also going to a reactive dog group and things are really starting to improve, walking past other dogs without WW3 breaking out is now possible. Good luck with whichever choice you make. I know from experience how scary and nervewracking it is to have a reactive dog.0

why on earth are you taking him on 'popular' dog walking sites? find somewhere more remote! the way you say it, it sounds like you take your dog to the most popular places! you have an anti social dog - so take him somewhere NOT popular with dog walkers! and warn people - TELL them he isn't friendly! this is how is he is with dogs - with people he is lovely and that is just his nature.0

Hopefully by keeping him muzzled it'll encourage other dog owners to avoid him now and recall their dogs quicker.
Good luck with it all.0
