Selling V5 without car

of course not for fraudulent use. The link you give explains why selling a V5 need not be illegal, it depends on the specific facts. For example if I have an old race car which came to me with no VIN or V5 etc, and need an identity for an HTP or VIF then finding a V5 for a very similar car and year is the solution. Car never goes near a public road (only on a trailer) and I have no intention of selling. No offence committed.
Fantastic.
Thats ok then. We should let this happen, if thats all that they're going to be used for. No harm done, eh?
Oh, no, hang on - you've overlooked something - what about the 99.99999% chance these identities will be used on ringers or stolen cars??0 -

on Escort Mexicos and Minis? yeah, dozens of them nicked every week - not! And you overlook the obvious that if the ebay sales went ahead, and your theory is right, it would quickly lead plod to the tea-leaf wouldn't it.The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -
It's also the incentive to dress up a Mk1 as a mexico, slap the mexico VIN on it for authenticity, and rip off some unsuspecting buyer.
The bodies came out of the factory the same after all.
Gratuitous Mexico shot. Belongs to Alistair McRae.0 -

yes that would be fraudulent.
BTW Nev I'm pleased to say you'll never make a crim, the V5 in question is for a Mk1 ;-)The questions that get the best answers are the questions that give most detail....0 -

Sadly i'm too young to really care for Escorts, be they mk1 or mk2.
I just thought people might appreciate the picture.0 -

Has the penny dropped then? A Mk1 Mexico could be worth upwards of £20-30,000. There are many 'replicas' around, simply add the identity of a "real" mexico and hey presto the value of your car quadruples.
Same with Minis. A mint Mini Cooper replica is worth half of what a genuine Cooper is worth. Add a £200 identity and away you go.0
