What do you do at the weekend?

We may go to see friends on a Saturday, if we do we usually stay over and come back Sunday.
If we don't do that, I will read, come on MSE
or watch TV, my husband will paint.
When we are at home on Sunday we go to church, we are 'greeters', so are there from 1000 and by the time the service has taken place, and we've had coffee, cakes and chat, it's after 1 pm by the time we get home, so we just chill in the afternoon after a late lunch.
We are retired (although we do house-sitting), so we do these things in the week too. also visit Museums, Art Galleries, National Trust places, coffee with friends etc as we don't want to do them at the weekend.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

Imagine someone holding forth on biology whose only knowledge of the subject is the Book of British Birds, and you have a rough idea of what it feels like to read Richard Dawkins on theology: Terry Eagleton0 -

This, too, sounds lovely. I think I'd love something regular and social. Not something that took up the whole day, but that took a morning and meant I didn't feel like I was wasting whole weekends at home.
I'm not religious, so church isn't an option. We don't have close friends in our town, either. It's a nice idea, though.
Aw, thanks for posting this thread, OP. I think we do get stuck in our ways at the weekend. We look forward to them, and then end up wasting time. It's nice to see what other people do.
I do know why you said 'childless', though. I imagine I'll have such busy weekends once I have a child. There's so much available for families to do, and kids are a great 'reason' to socialise, but as a childless couple we don't do all that much.0 -
I run Parkrun every Saturday morning. It's a free and friendly 5k run with lots of other people. I always think its a great way to start the weekend. I'll be running 10miles tomorrow morning in prep for a half marathon.:rotfl:0

I would disagree with that slightly. I do have a child but even before that my ex and I would go to local events like fates etc the only difference now is I spend more money as ds wants to go on the rides!0 -
