So am I but don't understand how you aren't aware of the Anglican church. :o The Episcopal church in Scotland is Anglican.

    You learn something new everyday.

I was never taught about the Anglican church that I am aware of, neither did I attend one so that is probably why I have no real knowledge of what it is.

My point though was that "this country" is not necessarily what people think it might be in an internet forum.

Very true. People can often use the term this country but don't really mean all of the UK. :(

I'm guilty of that sometimes, I admit. I have only ever been to Scotland once and then it was to inner-city Glasgow nearly fifty years ago, I don't know a lot about Scotland. As Midlanders, we tend to go to Wales for our holidays in the UK :) as it is close.

I apologise to all the Scots here and will promise to do better in future.

    No need to apologise.

When people talk about "here" they tend to forget that the internet is global and my "here" and your "here" may not be... erm here.

But you do, at the moment, live in the same country as most of us here.

I have no idea if most of the people on this thread live in Scotland or not.

    How do you know?

It's not so much a single 'denomination' but the version of Christianity that believes that you are only truly a Christian if you have a personal relationship with Jesus, as in the born again movement, and you will find them within C of E, Baptists, Methodists, evangelicals and (what was originally known as ) the house church movement. And many other denominations.

I am quite sure your example of Christian/Hindu mix works wonderfully, the way you describe it, but for born again Christians it really is more difficult for such a personal relationship as marriage is.

Its not me who is Christian Hindu relationship ;) And actually, I think need to make it clear its not just a Christian issue of not considering it.....many faiths have people and whole areas that would be closed to the idea....it is true that that its just happening to be Christians who are arguing against it here!

I also agree with NDG, that its a shame that people gets heated rather than discussing intellectually. I often enjoy talking with people who I am arguing a different pov with now, and I am sure at least one will testify I have argued against knocking the opinion in puerile way even when I don't agree with it. I would defend people's right to worship as they see fit, however they had married. ;)

Yes, know you are not a Hindu/Christian mix, I was just appreciating the example you gave as sounding rather delightful :).

Scotland isn't a country. Wait for your referendum!

Scotland is not yet a separate country. Most of us, yourself included, are citizens of the UK.
