Wrong on most counts, I have several Scottish friends, I just don't want to be in a union with people who don't want to be in one with me.

I understand it a little bit. When I lived in Spain, in Andalucia, the Andaluz people wanted to break away from being governed by Madrid, and actually I could see why, as very little that went on there had any bearing on the lives of hill farmers 6 hours drive away trying to eke out a living on marginal land. The Partido Andalucista, PA (The Andaluz National Party) were very strong in those parts.

I do read the Daily Mail though.

A number of people want to be out of the UK union and also the union that is the EU, so you may be stuck with the dissenters no matter what.

This would be the point of having a referendum, to see if there is a majority who do want to break away from the UK.

Well actually the point is that it was part of the SNP manifesto when they were elected, but voting SNP doesn't mean you'd be pro-independence. In truth they've been elected based on being a reasonable party in control of the Scottish Assembly, not on independence reasoning.

Labour, the traditional strong party in Scotland, have lost a lot of support as they shifted ever more to the right. The Tories are dead in Scotland, to the point they even openly touted re-branding under a different name in Scotland. :rotfl:

I am English and would like to be able to say I am English, not British, and also would like to be out of the EU. So maybe something in common. :)

Suddenly it seems I was right on both counts. :rotfl:

I am in an interfaith intercultural relationship at the moment.

We are a Black Christian African Woman and a Pakistani British Asian Muslim.

it is difficult with both our cultures and families can be interefering as his family dont want anything to do with me but he doesnt see them that often.

Thankfully we are both very understanding of each others culture and very respectful, we are having a child and have agreed our child is going to be an individual and have no religion until they are older and we are bring them up as an individual and a good honest hard working human being.

We dont know any others in our situation which is a shame as it would be nice to meet others but alas we are happy so thats all that matters

I have edited my post, see above. Why cannot I be as proud to be English as others are to be Scottish?

Nothing wrong with being proud to be English/Welsh/Scots/Irish/etc.

Claiming you want rid of the Scots because they don't want to be British (unsubstantiated claim) and then outing yourself as anti-Union is something you may want to look at. That's nothing more than projecting your thinly veiled bias on the subject matter.

I want out of Europe and if the Scots don't want to be part of the UK that is up to them as far as I am concerned. Nothing to do with me.

Why do you feel unable to say you are English?

You are British, and European, as well of course, as are the Scots, Welsh and those from NI.

That will be why there is a referendum, although not of Scots rather those that qualify to vote.

    Voters need not be Scottish.
