Morning all.
Bit floored today, DS2 has been allocated catered accommodation at uni, despite putting all 3 choices as self catered, and letter says, if we decline that, no further accommodation offer will be made.
The cost is phenomonal, and I can't find any indication of menu plans, and have searched and searched. Plus, already been accumulating self catering items, and of course, food stash for him.
Trying to remain very positive for him, pointing out all the pro's, but really worried about the cost
Anyone who's been through/has someone at Keele, that could offer any advice please?
When my eldest went up they had a list of uni approved shared houses around the city - might be worth asking if Keele has one of those? Main thing is to find a place on a bus route to Keele.
I am sure there is a number you can ring up to ask about bus routes - its a central one and they always say Ccheshire and I say no its Yorkshire I want! You need to ask for Staffordshire bus routes.
But having said that also for Cheshire. I know there is a bus that goes from Crewe train station up to Wychwood hotel so its quite possible there are buses that go from Crewe to Keele and there is loads of student accomadations in Crewe so that's another option.
Either way it might work out cheaper - weekly bus pass and shared house rent
My eldest went through clearing so there was no places in halls for her but the place she got was only about 10 mins walk from uni We paid her rent and bills while she was at uni - it cost us a fortune.
She got a job in a pub straight away but she was always broke.“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

I wrote to Mcvities a month or so ago because I am saving up for one of the big prizes and I have lots of choc digestives packs taking up a lot of room and asked if I could send them off to them at regular periods. Anyways they said no to that but did say that they don't need the whole packet, just the part with the no on it, so you can cut that bit out and throw the rest away.
They don't ask for all the codes, they send you a list of codes you have entered and then ask you to send so many out of that list.
Thanks for the infoApparently, everybody knows that the bird is [strike]the word[/strike] a moorhen0 -

Is the cost not covered by his loan or grant. My son went to Durham and was in catered halls 1st year and it was covered by his loan. Also really good for them to be together 1st year especially if 1st time away from home. My son had a little kitchen on his floor so we still took kitxhen equipment for him. Talk to the uni about funding for it.0 -

Worth phoning them perhaps to see/suggest it might be a computer problem?0 -
Morning everyone
Hope your all ok.
Love the reminiscing from last night, was defo the best glitch ever (so far:)) it was crazy and so much fun as well. I remember pushing the buggy around Sada with a basket on the back filled to the brim, the underneath of the buggy jam packed as well. Then I would get on the bus home with everything. The poor buggy was nearly killed off:rotfl:Sunshinemummy wrote: »Hi, I've been lurking for a while as had set with my real name.. very silly of me! But as I am techophobic it took ages trying to change this, eventually gave up and set a new one, with a very silly name but hey ho!
Something to keep an eye out for is Carling Zest with SEL for £8, but charged £9.
Is there any one who can break the MSM process into bite sized pieces as I really an thick when it comes to anything technical! I have tried several times, but get confused, does I need an Iphone, or buy on line... I read the thread, and thought I had it figured out, but when I tried complete the msm it indicates that I need to do online shop! ooh I am confused, it may be my age!
Any advice is greatfully accepted, thanks ;-))
