    Morning all.

Bit floored today, DS2 has been allocated catered accommodation at uni, despite putting all 3 choices as self catered, and letter says, if we decline that, no further accommodation offer will be made.

The cost is phenomonal, and I can't find any indication of menu plans, and have searched and searched. Plus, already been accumulating self catering items, and of course, food stash for him.

Trying to remain very positive for him, pointing out all the pro's, but really worried about the cost :(

Anyone who's been through/has someone at Keele, that could offer any advice please?
My DS is off to uni too.....going to UCL..asked for catered and got it thankfully. I'm a bit unsure of what he needs to take with him ....perhaps we can worry about stuff together.....he is SO excited though.....
Sorry cant offer any help about Keele ...sure someone on here will ....

    :)

    Help please?

My tomato plants have loads of tomatoes & I really don't need more.

Can I cut the tops off the plants to stop them growing & then they will concentrate on their tomatoes?

I wrote to Mcvities a month or so ago because I am saving up for one of the big prizes and I have lots of choc digestives packs taking up a lot of room and asked if I could send them off to them at regular periods. Anyways they said no to that but did say that they don't need the whole packet, just the part with the no on it, so you can cut that bit out and throw the rest away.

They don't ask for all the codes, they send you a list of codes you have entered and then ask you to send so many out of that list.
that's good to know, thanks. any idea of the amount of codes, or did they not say.

Have a search around the UCL website, and look at the student pack that will probably arrive with your DS soon.

A quick search shows an ethernet cable will be needed for UCL halls.

You'll need to find out if duvet/pillow need to be provided/if uni provides/or if you can order from uni.

There may be a small kitchen area for preparing snacks, so some equipment may be required, again, you'll need to look for that information! Some halls don't allow fire hazard equipment, so for example, a sandwich toaster in his room might not be allowed!

My heating has come on
are you sure. my combi boiler - fires up every now and again. it does this to heat the small tank of water it holds. so when you wash your hands for instance, you don't have to run the tap for ages.

I cut off the growing tips, so yes, you can. Leave a bit of stem/leaf above your fruiting trusses. I've also cut off the bottom leaves too
