Thanks Michelle for the extra/optional challenges today. I've been meaning to empty and clean a shelf in the kitchen for WEEKS so you've given me the added oomph to do it.
Boston_uk, a curiosity? At our age what so you expect??:rotfl:
Can someone point me in the direction of a slow cooker recipe for bolognaise? Some one mentioned it on the thread today (sorry can't remember who it was ... little grey cells dying fast) and I'm intrigued.
Off to shelves and surfaces :wave:0 -
It didn't stay sunny for long so I made a start in the kitchen. I might extend it to the pantry as I've no dining room. I can manage ten more minutes while my tea is cooking I suppose.
I'm normally just making a start at this time of the evening, I could really cope with this working 'til 3 lark!

Evening all. Back from work with a minor stop off for puppy cuddles. The guy I car share with got a new puppy at the weekend, and she's sooooo cute. This morning she was a little shy and sleepy but this evening she kept coming up to me for attention. I don't think I'll get away with puppy-napping her though.
Right, I still have lots to do, just really popped on here to check what was left. Back later to catch up with what you've all been up to today.

Penelope-Penguin, can you really make hobnobs and do they taste like 'the real thing' so to speak??
This is the thread - Homemade hobnobs. I used twink's recips (post 4) using butter. They're delicious, and really easy, but not sure how *authentic* they are
Boston - keeping hens is great fun! I'll keep you posted.
I got lots of time to *Flylady* the garden. Lots of weeding and watering. We're repalcing a dead hedge with some new willow fencing, so I've been clearing the hedge debris, and turning it into firewood for the winter. It's all neatly stacked in the garage to dry out. I've found 2 old sacks of gravel, so they've been moved into the front garden, which has a gravel mulch. I've dug over my compost heap, and transferred the good compost onto my plants.
Made salmon fishcakes for tea, with HG new potatoes and HG salad. Need to go and clear the kitchen, then a long bath before tackling the ironing. Will see what films I have to watch with it.
Off to w*** for the next couple of days, so will catch up with you when I can

Evening. Had a terrible time with DS since he got up about 3.30, have just got him settled after screaming none stop for about half an hour despite me trying everything. DH is out and it got were I just wasn't coping very well. Have forced myself to finish my jobs before I sat and ate as thought once my bum gets on that couch, it ain't moving. To top it off DH has just texted me saying wish I was at home, its cr*p, yadda, yadda - so hes p***ed off going out for nothing as hes having a pants time:mad: Know everyone has to do this but 13 hours so being non stop and having to do everything will no help just gets to me sometimes.
Poohbear, Nicki, Solwaykid thank you for the hugs, it really was a 'blessing' as he was so poorly and couldn't speak and was just basically waiting to pass over, poor luv. Only thing is we went to his mothers funeral about 6 weeks ago so the family have lost two members in such a sort space of time, its heartbreaking for them

I use 2lb of mince (there are 10 of us)
2 onions.. usually 1 red and one white.. makes it look pretty!
1 tin of tomatoes
1/2 tube tomato puree
4 cloves garlic.. love it!
1lb mushrooms (because I love them)
Sling all of above in SC 4-5 hours is usually enough for this lot.
About an hour before it finishes I add 2 packets of spag bol mix.. because I can't be bothered faffing with individual spices (though normally I find I have run out and sling in a bit of everything until it tastes right .. parsley, thyme, basil etc)
Grate in 2 carrots, 1 huge potato or 3 small ones, sometimes dice aubergine or courgette in.. it goes slimy if added too soon.. bit of anything I caan get away with the children not noticing! all diced really tiny so it can't be picked out!
It does really look like spag bol when it is slopped on plates.. (and covered in cheese lol) even if it does sound like stew!!! lolLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
