i normally use a slow cooker but i'm moving out soon and think i may invest in a pressure cooker! Sometimes you dont want something cooking all day, think i pressure cooker would be good for when i get back from work, my dad will be pleased as he's always nagging me to get one as his dad used one all the time...maybe he'll buy me one? ;-)0

Just finished off the last of the Lentil Soup I cooked for the kids tea last night and about to cook a big batch of minestrone soup in mine next, for lunches for me and OH for a few days.
Love my PC and cant imagine how I lived without it all those years when I was to scared of them to try one!

I have both - and use both! It just depends how the day pans out: if I'm organized in the morning I set up the SC, but if I'm not and need to produce something in little time, it's the PC. PC is also invaluable when the vegetable garden produce starts coming in, it makes blanching for freezing a breeze.
And then there are the times when some main course is cooking in the SC and I can quickly produce some brown rice to go with it in the PC (or pasta, or mashed potatoes...). They are invaluable tools, and moneysaving too :-)"Remember that many of the things you have now you could once only dream of" - Epicurus0 -
Thanks for custard recipe seraphina, it was a baked spuds (in remoska) and cold meat day here so nothing done in pressure cooker BUT I feel totally liberated as yesterday I got rid of my guilt-inducing slow cooker on Freecycle to a nice-looking young woman who was really grateful, so now someone will love it and it will stop loking at me reproachfully. Hoorah ! Its spaghetti sauce in PC tomorrow, and maybe some lentil soup and Seraphina's custards. Yum.0

Today I made really tasty stock from my chuk bones and a really good spaghetti bolognese sauce (cooks in 8 mins). Tomorrow an going to try Seraphina's custards, yum. C'mon folks - what are you doing in your pressure cooker ?0

Not really a recipe but steamed some spuds this morning for breakfast - we were out last night so needed some stodge this morning as recovery food
I just pop in similar sized potatoes, skins and all, on top of the trivet with minimal amount of water. Bring to full pressure and cook for 13 mins, then quick release method cool down and check for doneness.
I then cubed them, fried some onion, added the chopped potatoes, some mild chilli powder and paprika. I fried these until a nice crispy skin had formed, then beat some eggs and poured these over the potatoes to make a breakfast scramble.
Potatoes steamed in the cooker are fab - they taste of proper potato and don't get waterlogged.0 -
I had stew in PC the other day & gammon done in it yesterday0

4 minute tomato soup for Monday and Tuesday's lunch:
Gently fry a finely chopped onion, two sticks of celery and a clove of garlic in some olive oil - about 10 mins without colouring. Add 2 cans of tomatoes (chopped or whole plum) and 500 ml stock. Season and bring to 15lb pressure, cook for 4 mins, reduce pressure naturally and blend. Add a chopped potato with the tomatoes if you like a thicker soup.0 -
A little while ago I was wittering on about my marmalade made from the Kuhn Rikon cookbook, and someone asked for the recipe. I lost the book but have now found it - am I allowed just to copy the recipe out as it is or what do I have to do? They don't seem to have it online so I can't post a link, but am v happy to share this very good recipe.....0
