cheapo engagement ring

useless

does anyone have any tips on where to get a cheap ring?
or indeed, if it would be terrible not to have one at all?
perhaps I am weird for not caring about an engagement ring whatsoever (I am the female by the way...)
the only rings I've ever had have got lost, and I haven't worn rings in over a decade
would still have wedding ring I think...
also , do men have engagement rings?
I'm not up on all of this....

It does not have to be a big, brand new diamond ring. Depending on your tastes, there may be nice second hand alternatives, or less expensive metals.
I don't think it is usual for men to wear them.
If you don't want one/care then you don't need to have one. Perhaps you could suggest something else symbolic you would rather wear, like a necklace?0 -
If you don't care about having an engagement ring then don't have one. Even a cheap one would be a waste of money.
And no, men do not traditionally wear engagement rings.0 -
if you dont want one...dont have one...why spend money even on a cheap ring if its not going to mean anything to you.....Put the money towards a wedding ring which will have more of a significance to you...although there is no actual requirement to exchange wedding rings during the ceremony if you dont want to either
Yes men can have a ring if they want...mine had one and wears it occaisionally!
As with most things about weddings and engagements...tradition is important to some people but not to everyone...its far more important that you value the marriage rather than any trinket!frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Define "cheap"
My engagement ring was inexpensive -we looked at new rings and second hand rings but I didn't want the responsibility of a valuable ring and in fact any ring can be an engagement ring as it is simply a symbol between the two of you and doesn't need to be anything flashy if you don't want it to be.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0 -
that's a good idea about the necklace...although am still coming round to the idea of having nothing!!
I guess I will get a lot of women asking to look at 'the ring', and then looking at me funny when it's invisible, but what's new!
never understood the fascination with all this 'stuff'0 -
If you are anywhere near London then Hatton Gardens is worth checking out for some bargains, I also recommend Cash Converters and Elizabeth Duke.

Tell them that you just don't like the idea of a man putting down a 'deposit' on you in the form of jewellery, it's a very outdated idea.
If you do want something cheapish but not traditionally engagement, I love Monica Vinader jewellery and have a nugget ring that I love (not as an engagement ring, just as a ring).0 -
Engagement rings are totally sexist, read up on it and then tell people that's why you haven't got one.0

You don't have to have one. DH got me a kitten. We then got her litter sister 'for him'. But a glass of wine or a hand shake or whatever else to seal the deal is fine too.0
