Hmm, interestingly eBay have now closed the 54 page official thread discussing the changes as they say 'all comments have now been fed back'.
Even more interestingly they are not pulling references to an alternative site , usually they are pulled within minutes, this time some have been there for days. The only posts that were pulled were a few I saw suggesting that Enid is going to be taken over by eBay..a rumour too far obviously or they consider it so low a threat they are happy for the name to be mentioned.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Apologies if this has already been asked...........
Thinking ahead to Ebays new fees on postage charged, we are happy for buyers to collect from us as it saves packing and saves them postage costs so win win all round.
However, are Ebay going to take the fee at the time of sale for the postage as a lot of our items we list as postage or collection option and obviously don't want to pay a fee for postage charges if the item has been collected in person.
Thanks in advance for any replies0 -

According to the official response the FVFs will be based on the invoice, so if you send an invoice with postage you will pay FVFs on that even if you later take cash and don't charge the postage.
This was debated at some length and the official response appeared to be that collection items should be collection only so that postage is not shown or that you don't send an invoice until buyer indicates how they are going to pay. The response was generally though to show a distinct lack of understanding about how busy sellers work.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. See Ebay Fees on postage unfair on facebook
'The 10% final value fee is now charged on the gross sale value including what the item sold for.
So item sells for 6 quid, plus 6.70 actual postage cost (RM 2nd class rec 1.1kg). Gross income 12.70 ebay 10% = 1.27. Whereas before ebay would have made 0.60 on the sale, now they’ve increased there take over 100% by including the postage!
Then paypal charges 3.4% plus 20 pence admin to process your buyers payment taking another 63 pence (3.4% of 12.70=43p+20p admin fee)
Gross sales value 12.70
Ebay fee 1.27
PP fee 63
Postage cost 6.70 (excluding packing tape, box/wrapping, time, transport cost to PO etc;)
Total costs 8.60 (excluding packing tape, box/wrapping, time, transport cost to PO etc;)
Net income 4.10 – This is what you got for your 6 quid item sale.
Ebay empire income is 1.90 or 46.34% of what you made.
Why does any of this matter?
Because the only truly unique bargains you will find on ebay are from small private sellers getting rid of some unwanted items, but ebay is intent on using extortionate fees to drive those sellers off their market place in favour of big turnover sellers.
It’s the real world equivalent of a corporate developer driving a once thriving flee market off its land to build just another giant, soulless, shopping mall where all the prices and items are the same in every outlet in every town.
I myself have found that ebay is no longer a completive market place because sellers have to load their prices to meet ebay fees. Many items are cheaper in my local hardware stores. Gone are the days where ebay was the de facto place to look for a bargain.
How much longer ebay can hold the impetus built in its early days by the massive virtual foot fall of bargain hunters remains to be seen, but without foot fall a shopping mall real or virtual suffers from a decline in impulse buying and that is an economic fact that the ebay board seem to be hiding from its shareholders.'0 -

I haven't quoted all the post as most of it irrelevant, however I refute your assertion that only private sellers have bargains, I find quite the opposite on many occasions. Small businesses masquerading as private sellers who have no idea of the worth of their goods, have no concept of buyer rights and think all buyers are scammers and treat us accordingly. Give me a big seller who can act in a professional manner and treat me , the buyer, properly and with respect.
Many of us are unhappy at these new fees, however suggesting that the end of eBay is nigh is just daft. Sellers will adapt , we have done it before and we will do it again.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Ah, someone else that understands what is happening to ebay. As someone who has worked at middle management level for a top 50 world company, it saddens me seeing the same corporate greed wreck what was a wonderful idea.
ebay allowed sellers to offer buyers (no one forces you to buy the item) to purchase items in an online market place. Then it became controlled. Then they took their enforced cut (paypal) on top of their (ebay) other fees. Then the stupid buyers cheered over the postage and will cheer over the 10% FVF fee on postage - buyers, who do you think is going to pay for this - do you like free P&P?
Well, when the seller goes down the post office and says, I'd like to send this for free, !!!!!! do you think the post office will say? It isn't free, it is just charged in another way, because all that ebay want is to get their grubby hands on more money and pay shareholders, so next time you're marking a seller down on DSRs, just pat your back and congratulate yourself, for being to stupid to realise that you're increasing your own buying costs.0
