Hi Soolin,
I know we've banged heads over the years, but please accept my words as the truth.
Maybe bronze got you nothing, it was 5 years ago. Silver certainly got you a reduction and gold even more. Plus platinum and diamond got you extra. I don't have time right no, but it was clearly marked out on the paypal site.
My post was not to say you were wrong, but merely to add my own experience. There definitely are discounts on paypal, there still are- but they are not linked to ebay- merely to turnover. if paypal help was any use, and I find it pretty ineffective I am sure I can find links.
Ebay/paypal hate me anyway, every time I qualify for any discount or special treatment they change the rules on me- every time without fail.:(I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. The link in thsi text might work
The fee depends on how much you sell so the more you sell, the less you pay. I only ever got to bronze PS a few years back and have never had a reduction in my paypal fees.
A seller with two silver Powerseller accounts could possibly end up with a bigger Paypal discount than a Platinum seller using macro and micro Paypal accounts..0 -

Sorry, yes you are right, they are linked to turnover. However, my experience of paypal turnover and I expect the same of most, is with ebay turnover, so mentally I automatically link them both. I've had the odd (non) ebay buyer attempt to pay me with paypal, which has resulted in my reply as Foxtrot Oscar, my bank details are thus, please send a bank transfer. I'm going to digress a bit and this is general post and not directed at you.
I've sold a few bits of CB radio stuff recently, through a forum, and it is nice to receive a bank transfer in less than an hour. Whereas I've been on to paypal today who take 3 days to send me MY money and expect me to ship the goods whilst paypal hold on to MY money.
The conversation went something along the lines of, you (ebay) tell me I should offer great customer service and ship the items quickly, but you in the digital age of instant payments are holding onto MY money for three days. How do I explain to the customer that they ain't getting their item for 3 days (plus delivery).
The CS rep (from India naturally), told me that I had the money and that it was in my account and that I could use it to print out paypal postage or buy anything on ebay. To which I said, if it is in my account, can I use the money to put petrol in the car or buy groceries, to which the answer is no. We had a long conversation where I explained the facts, on the left handside was the buyer who wanted to pay me money and had paid me money and wanted me to send the item, in the middle was paypal and on the right handside was my bank account.
In the middle was paypal holding on to the cash and the buyer's goods were going nowhere until I had the cash in my bank account. The woman went on about the fact that the money was there and I'd have it soon, and I kept telling her that it wasn't there until it was in my account and that I could withdraw it/use it to pay for the delivery cost. Unfortunately my local village post office doesn't take paypal chocolate buttons for delivery.0 -

My paypal transfers are as instant as a bank transfer though- buyer pays, funds clear and I can withdraw them. If I wanted I could be pad and have the money in my bank account within an hour.
I don't withdraw my funds after every transaction but I certainly clear my account regularly, usually daily, whilst I might come across as being a fan of paypal I certainly don't trust them anymore than I trust any other financial institution.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It certainly isn't something you should be passing on to a customer. If you run a business and rely on instant transfers from Paypal to be able to send post you must have some serious cashflow issues. Given you admit to being on your third Paypal account don't you ever worry that they may just work out to connect the previous accounts and keep the funds? Or is that the reason you hold onto the goods and let your poor customer suffer?
Whoa, you are so wrong. ebay/paypal get their commission, I agree to pay that. Where in the hell do you agree that in this digital age that ebay/paypal can sit on the funds for 3 days, but expect you to send it immediately?
I don't rely on paypal to send instant transfers, but I do question why they don;t send instant transfers. I question why they expect me to give 100% customer service, post immediately and then withhold my money for 3 days. Kind of double standards.
Hey, I don't like to let my customer's suffer, but if ebay/paypal keep their money and don't pass it on to me, then why should I ship MY goods and hope that they release MY money?
No, I'm not bothered about ebay/paypal connecting my accounts and withholding the money. Because I'll take them to the small claims court (county court) and they'll run a mile, rather that send a solicitor/barrister to represent themselves, because they know they don't have a leg to stand on.
Like I've said all along, ebay/paypal can take me to court, I'll happily challenge them and publish it online, but they won't take me to court. And any time they don't want business, they can always refuse. Like I've already said, I use my real name and real address, they can always say no.0 -

As said earlier, I'm not a big seller on ebay anymore, I'm just selling a few items. Here is the message I got.
Date:
19 Aug 2013Time:
05:59:17 BSTStatus:
Pending
Your withdrawal request is awaiting release for final processing, pending review by PayPal.
The message has changed slightly from my conversation with their Indian call centre yesterday. Which said something along the lines of, we're holding on to your payment for 72 hours whilst we check it.
So paypal hang onto the money for 3 days, but get real arsey if you don't post it instantly.0 -

For most customers paypal is instant, it is only if they have any concerns (valid or otherwise) that they hold.
