Massive Seller Fee increases from 04/09/13

Hi,
just to let everyone know (as I can't see any mention of it here), that eBay will be instituting an exponential cost in selling via .co.uk for all (ie. both Private and Business Sellers).
Basically at the heart of it is that eBay.co.uk will now begin to charge their 10% Final Value Fee also on the Postage portion of the sale, so you would have to add over 11% more to the buyers postage charge to cover the actual cost of postage i.e. for something which will cost £5.00 to post you would have to set your postage price at £5.55, remember even with this you will still be making a marginal loss on the postage due to Pay "Pal" Fees.
As you can tell this will have fundamental implications of what what it will be feasible to sell, and will most likely wipe out entire markets for items which are low priced but heavy.
Best of luck.

In the interests of balance, not everyone will be worse off. There are reductions in listing fees and if you already sold items with prices including postage you may find overall fees coming down..0
-
Indeed. I for one will be better off in my categories.0

No increase here, as we're already offering Inclusive P&P
A way around international P&P is to list on the other eBay Sites, as only .com & .uk are doing this FVF on Postage0 -
this is likely in relational to loosening of postage fee policies, ebay have told me they will change policy on postage fees in september, so I guess after this policy change they expecting higher postage fees and want a cut of that also.0

So ebay tell you these things do they- and not the big mega sellers who are still trying to make sense of the already announced September changes. Yet you don't even believe we have visible star ratings as per your comment on another thread?
Or do you mean that you have seen the announcement about fees being paid on postage that we have been discussing for weeks now?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. .
That's not a particularly good business model you have there.
You may want to come up with a new strategy, otherwise you're going to end up with customers leaving you low stars for postage!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Which goes back to my suggestion that there will be a real divide of sellers, the big TRS sellers with their free postage and automatic 5* and those charging postage and perhaps having their stars suffer because of the contrast.
For smaller business sellers like me caught in the middle it could well be a disaster.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. IMHO this is the beginning of a new model for ebay, small - medium and certainly private sellers will be slowly "eased" away from ebay, and onto Gumtree, which will then be developed as a fee paying site for said sellers with better structure.
ebay certainly doesn't talk to me directly as others seem to claim, even though I do have a large business on the site, again this is just my opinion.0
