Just wondering, what format do the stamps have to be in, I checked their website and it doesn't really specify any requirements or how you cut the stamp out? Is it acceptable for the stamps to be still no the envelope (although cut out to near the shape of the stamp) - sometimes it's hard to not tear the stamp if I need to remove it from the envelope.

Sorry if it's a stupid question, I've never collected stamps.

When I registered with him I messaged him on Facebook and this is what he said:

    Thank you for your message.

In order to join, simply confirm the name to which payments should be made out to (this can be an individual, a company, or a charity of your choice), and the address to where payments should be sent (alternatively, please provide your Paypal email address). You will then be issued with a unique collectors reference number by return - this will need to be clearly marked on the envelope of every lot sent in to me to ensure that payment is issued correctly. Once this is received, I am ready to start receiving stamps from you.

With regards to my requirements, I am looking to purchase what is known as Kiloware, which put simply is a complete stamp (or postage label) torn off mail and saved in an accumulation and weighed by the kilo. Ordinarily, stamps should normally be left on the backing paper, with a border of about 4mm to 8mm left around the stamp, however this is a guide only. I am currently paying £8.50 per Kilogram with payments on a pro-rata basis for smaller quantities. Any postage costs incurred in sending stamps to me will also be refunded to you with the payment.
Payments are issued on the last working day of the month, but will be subject to a cut off date of 21st of every month (meaning that any stamps received on or after the 21st of the month will be paid the following month).

The address to send stamps to is: DCD Philatelics, 45 Wiltshire Lane, Pinner, HA5 2LY.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

    Kind regards

    Darren

Do they ask you to post at awkward times. I have a post box outside my house and also one at work in the city can I use them . So timings I won't be able to post when actually working
Mostly it's before noon or after noon so one on the way to work and one on the way home (if not after last posting). It can be difficult when you get parcels if you can't nip out to a PO during opening hours - I've found a late opening one I can get to after work. They all have to be in the same postcode area though - if you live at XX11 1XX, you can only post at boxes in XX.
I need to think of something new here...

I send my used stamps to the Royal National Institute for the Blind stamp appeal
They state they expect to get £10 per kilo for British stamps, £15 for overseas.

I'm registered on the panel at both of my front doors but I'm normally only active at one of the addresses at any time. I've just found out I'm going to be live at both addresses at the same time. That's not going to be at all confusing!
I'm waiting for the day I have to post something to myself! :rotfl:
I'm sort of intrigued now - do you mean you have a second home and have registered both addresses? Or do you live on a corner plot with a house that has door A on one street and door B round the corner and both have numbers? Two small cottages knocked into one?
I need to think of something new here...

All of the them really! I bought a corner house then I bought the house next door and I've knocked them into one house. Each half has a different address and postcode such that you wouldn't know they were adjacent without looking at a map. I'm registered at both addresses in different names.
  • Is it just me or has anyone else noticed the almost rancid smell emanating from the envelopes for returning smarts? It seems to be a kind of lubricant for the foil which also lightly sticks the interior sides together.
