Hi I have just started posting again, and we now have the option to post in post box outside the post office, which I dint think was an option when I did it before.

When it says post at post office are they happy for you to post in the box outside or would they rather you hand it in over in the post office?

    Many thanks x

I always post outside unless item is a parcel which has to be handed in.
  • Thanks all. I'll post before last collection on Saturday morning.

In my latest posting schedule I have an item to post on a Saturday after midday. My local box's last collection is 11.30am on a Saturday. I presume I have to go looking for a box that has a last collection time later than 12 but still on the Saturday? Could be tricky.

My local post box only has one collection a day - 9am weekdays and 7am in a Saturday! I used to ensure anything I posted was put in the box before these times, regardless of the instructiins but now follow what I am told to do. I have to post one today before midday which will miss today's collection and one for tomorrow to be posted before the last collection. In theory, these will be picked up by Mr. Postie on the same day. I say in theory because, when I asked my postman why the last collections were so early, he told me the chap who empties the boxes does it at around 1pm, after he's finished his own round. This is why I now follow the instructions.

This has been the case for as long as I have been on the panel. The online schedule is most up to date and if the SMART column is blank for an item then you do not add a SMART.

You never return SMARTS to TNS unless they ask you - check the website on Fridays and if there are SMARTS to be returned then the "Return SMARTs" button will have turned red :)

Yes, I now understand this, thank you! Only returned them because TNS were saying they were short and asking for them to be returned. Didn't realise they only meant the ones asked for....trying to be helpful!

Received an item with about 4 wavy horizontal lines through the stamp, no date or time.
When they ask is there a postmark is it classed as one? Not shown in their list of examples.

I will say No. Then there should have another question for the horizontal lines. And say Yes for that.

Are you sure about that? I've ticked the no postmark option before and I'm pretty sure that was the end of it, no question about wavy lines anywhere.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

The box states if you want it guaranteed to be collected that day, post by 9am.
The whole point of bringing in collections on delivery was to give flexibility for RM.
As long as the mail connects with that days MC feed,it can be collected any time.
Boxes with day tags will show if they have been cleared already that day.

Why not just give it a try?! You can use the "back" button to change back to "yes" if you like.

If there's a wavy line over a stamp, that's a postmark in my view. The questions which follow about the postmark ask about date and time so I would respond that both date and time were missing (rather than illegible).
