I've always really enjoyed being on the panel for these surveys as, living very rurally, there are so few other little money-making opportunities such as Mystery Shopping etc.

On my latest stint I received a letter from another panellist with a SMART inside but the envelope had been damaged in transit, ripped apart actually, and had been put into a polybag by Royal Mail and sent to me with their standard 'We are sorry....' letter enclosed.

Whether I was foolish to email the survey people to tell them about this or not I don't know but I was being honest and thought they should know. They took me off the survey panel with immediate effect as my cover as a panellist may have been blown and staff at my local sorting office may treat my future mail in an untypical way, so invalidating the integrity of my data!

Needless to say I'm gutted to have lost one of the few profit-making opportunities I had (as stamps are so valuable to me for various reasons) as well as feeling I was doing something useful as a panellist.

Just goes to show that honesty doesn't pay

I think the postman must guess that we're part of the panel. I live on my own in a house on a big housing estate and am due to receive Farmer's Weekly

Surely he's going to be suspicious?

The lady in the post office no longer asks me what's in the cubes these days either. I'm sure she realises LOL

I had a spate of Boxing Today, The Jewish Chronicle and Good Housekeeping. I don't think the postie even looks at them, tbh. If they have sussed I'm on the panel it's had no impact whatsoever on the stupid places they leave things.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

She is unlikely to know - you are simply a person she remembers.
And of course she is not a Royal Mail employee.

"We are writing to inform you that Royal Mail has notified us that they are aware you are taking part in our survey."

Wow, that didn't last long. I have only been on the panel 4 weeks (after two separate 7 week training sessions). I have had no contact with RM staff other than handing over a couple of parcels at the counter. Can't think of any reason, unless perhaps they opened something on its way to me from another panellist? Well, goodbye everyone here and thanks for all your help. :money:

I'd contact TNS and ask if they know how this has happened.

Perhaps something along the lines of ...

I'm very disappointed to receive your letter bringing me the sad news that I can no longer be part of the TNS mail survey, something I was finding most enjoyable and rewarding.
Would you do me the courtesy of telling me how the Royal Mail became aware of my identity, only I cannot think of anything that I have done that could have revealed my participation in this survey.
I followed all your instructions and guidelines to the letter, and was especially careful about keeping all my personal information, and details of all TNS postal items handled, secret to all those involved.

    We're getting a PAY RISE :D

Royal Mail is to increase the price of first- and second-class stamps from Tuesday 29 March – the third successive annual price rise. But you've still time to beat the hike by buying now.

The price of a first-class stamp will rise by 1p to 64p and the price of a second-class stamp will increase by 1p to 55p.

A large letter first-class stamp (for items weighing up to 100g) will also rise by 1p to 96p, while a large letter second-class stamp is going up by 1p to 75p.
