  • If I have to post an item before midday at a post box and the last collection time is 9am is it still ok to post it at say 11am? Or does it still have to be in the box before last collection time?

All items should be posted before last collection on the day of posting as specified on the schedule. If you can't post before 9am (I can't myself) then you need to find an alternative box with a later collection :)

Totally disagree. I always post my items in my nearest post box and have been doing this for several years without any probs. If you can't make their target schedules, don't worry about it.

My nearest post box always says last collection time as being 9am but you will find that they will collect after this time. Don't make life difficult for yourself by looking for another box with a later time. Just be honest and tell the rm survey when you actually post the item.

I seem to remember RM changed the default last collection time
to 0900hrs for most post boxes last year. Not sure why as I think they collect post throughout the day after 0900hrs.

    HTHs.

Thank you. As it says before midday, that is what I will do unless told otherwise.

Why would that be the case? If the OP is asked to post before midday, then surely final collection is irrelevant?

They didnt change the time to 9am.
They the box may be collected from 9am.
This gives RM flexibility and allows delivery staff to clear boxes as they pass.
So its not throughout the day. It gets one collection at some point in the day.
However if an item is posted by 9am,it will be collected that day.

Copy and paste from the FAQs on the website:

When do I post my test items?
Please try to post your items during the time period suggested on your Posting Schedule. If this is not possible, please ensure you post your items before the last collection time.

If you cannot make the day of posting, please post the item the same day the following week before the final collection. Please ensure that you update the system with the amended time of posting.

I'll admit the wording could be clearer but this indicates to me that items should be posted before final collection on the day in question. Its also what I was advised when I asked TNS about it, following the changes to the collection times on a large number of post boxes.

I am doing the unaddressed mail survey and today two items have separately arrived not delivered with our regular post. One is a local village magazine and another about a local forthcoming craft fair. I am presuming local residents delivered these so could someone clarify if these count as unaddressed mail?
