I am still training and the latest thing for me to post was a cube. I went along to the nominated post office and it was just like queuing up at the deli counter in Waitress. They did provide comfy seats and after 20 mins my number was called and I handed over the item to the advisor.
I read that TNS send a £2 lover voucher for having to hand an item over the counter and am curious to know does this apply to trainees.
As I won one of the £10 draws recently I thought they would send me the £2.00. However perhaps that is asking too much.0 -

I completed my training last month and had to post a cube during the training period. I wasn't expecting to receive a voucher during the training period but £2 Love to Shop arrived yesterday. Regrettably, it wasn't one of the more sought after £2 lover vouchers! However, I am not quite sure what lover service one could purchase for only £2, perhaps holding hands!0

Going back to the last acceptance time question, my post office has a notice on the wall inside stating what these are. And they do differ from the times on the post box outside - they are earlier. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

They need to process and clear the mail at the counter, the box is a simple clearance job.0 -
Basically with box/PO collections you can collect as late as you like,as long as the mail connects to the pipeline. Never early though.
The PO has to present the mail to the driver,so its more a case of do they have time, does the driver have time to wait.
Agreed, but what the postmistress said was that NO driver was actually OBLIGATED to take ANY MAIL that comes from within the Post Office (even when presented by herself to them directly - either at the Post Box as it is emptied or the van itself) once it has gone 17:15
So even though my PO is open until 18:00, and the last collection for the box outside is 17:30, which invariably is actually emptied at 17:50, mail handed over inside is only "guaranteed" to be "same day collection" IF they have it (ie Last Acceptance) by 17:10
Whilst the vast majority of drivers take the OTC mail right up to closing, apparently there is the occasional one or two that likes to adhere to the "cut-off" rule as specified in their handbook

well the issue is collections are timed throughout the collection route. (for anyone that didnt know, collections cover PO's,boxes and business collections)
So a driver at say 17:30 collection will have to get to the mail centre or to their hub point for a certain time.
So if for example you are new to a collection route, you wouldn't want to be hanging around.
More experienced drivers will know what headroom they have on a route.0
