There seem to me to be more people wanting free stamps but really don't want to actually do much activity for them.

I agree with this...although I think some of the problem stems from people not knowing what is involved in the task when they sign up for it....it isnt a case of doing a few surveys and getting rewardes with stamps...but sadly thats how some read the thread title and when its revealed what the panel actually entails some may realise that they are not suited to the demands.

Im very lucky that it fits very well round my daily activities...ive got 2 good post offices within reasonable walking distance and a clutch of postboxes in close proximity...but I do appreciate that isnt the case for everyone....so if you cant commit to posting upto 9 items a week and receiving a similar amount then please dont accept the invitation to join to panel!

In the 4 years or so that ive been part of it the levels of whats expected have changed although I believe that they do try to compensate those for the work thats put in....yes it might be a faff to be given a voucher and asked to pay for postage on an item...but its not going to happen every week...and if it does then you have the option of not rejoining when invited.
On the flip sidethe L2S vouchers that are sent out for monitoring the post you correctly receive or the unaddressed mail...well thats easy money

Ive never really had much problem with the panel but I do conceed that my last 2 posting packs have both contained errors...whether thats because the people that prepare them are inundated with queries thats its impacting on what they send out ive no idea....but certainly the standard of diligence seems to be slghtly wide of the mark at the moment....however a quick email to them and hopefully it will be sorted out before my posting is due next week

The standard of what I receive from other panelists ranges substantially too...and usually not a week goes by where something is a little adrift shall we say...

Many of the errors that do occur could be easily ommitted if new panelists, and indeed returning panelists were to read the training section and the private panellist guide that is sent out....its not the greatest story I know but it really does contain the basic infomation to get everyone posting in a correct and timely fashion.

The postal panel isnt designed to be a chore...and if as such you feel it is then maybe its not for you...but there are some like me who actually still feel that the stamps are worth it!

  • Hi

Just a quick query that may have already been answered but at first look couldn't see it!

I have been struggling to post the items after 1pm and before final collection time, so have been posting them in the morning of the collection day on my way to work. The only thing is I have noticed that next week I need to send one item between 10-1 and another (cube) after 1pm but before final collection. Are you penalised if this is sent on the wrong day or at the wrong time, or is it a case of trying to post as close to the time as possible and just entering the information honestly on the site.

My main problem is the fact I work 40 miles away from my home and therefore the post boxes in the area I work in aren't the correct postcode!!

I just wanted to find out before I let Royal Mail know I cannot continue as I don't want to take a space that someone who could be doing it better could have.

    Many Thanks in advance

What's in the panellist guide please. I have just finished training and still have not received one. When I queried it all I got was a one page quick guide by email. Is there a hard copy document that we are supposed to be sent. My reading of the original notes says there should be but I haven't got a copy and I have been relying on the online guides but a document would be useful to save logging on to get an answer.

Supposed to start my first week on full survey this week, but the items to post have not been received from TNS.

I was unable to get through on the phone so sent an email yesterday to let them know, but have not had a reply.

I doubt if the package will now be delivered to me, but if it is do I wait until next week to send all of the items (there were supposed to be 3 on Monday, 1 on Wednesday and 1 on Friday) or do I send what I can on the correct days of this week and the remainder on the same days next week?

After reading the FAQ I am of the opinion that I should hold them all back to next week.

The main thing is the day...and where you post ie post in box or post office...
Really as long as you can get it done that way and as you say log honestly the time you should be fine.

The whole purpose of the panel is not to create work for panellists but to measure the responsiveness of the royal mail...
You wont be seen badly if you dont post within an exact timeslot as long as you do post that day and reflect accurately the time you post the item.

In some areas although granted its not many there are still more than one collection of mail per day so the time slots are inserted to check that mail is being collected when the royal mail are supposed to...

There is a 23 page hard document that is usually sent to panellists...I received one this time I was asked back to the panel...
It basically covers all the information from the various bits of the website...in 10 handy sections..

It by no means answers every query that someone may have but can be handy for reference to the answer to common questions.

If you receive your items in time to send them on the correct day...then send them on the correct day otherwise wait to send them on the corresponding days of the following week.

If of course you dont receive them then theres little more you can do but let the item go red on your screen and wait for a query to be raised...perhaps another email to them at the beginning of next week if youve not got it sorted by then?

Just completed my training and now on the proper panel!

Received a presentation pack of stamps as well as the normal ones, the Children's TV ones are quite cute. Shame I'm not sure I could bear to ever use them for actual mail!
