I'm going to write an account of my actual assessment in the hope it may help some of you-but I can only speak about my own one, and what I learned form other sources, but perhaps people with other experiences could add their bit ?

This is something I'd certainly be interested in, thanks.

Hope it's of some use. Don't panic or get stressed- easy to say, I know, but it wasn't nearly as bad as I had been imagining. Just make sure you have notes of everything you want to cover- I find it hard to remember things now, and keep focused on the criteria.
Mine was about 90 minutes, but some people have been as short as 20 minutes. I was told the average was about an hour.
They've updated one of the links I sent you- it now mentions there is no specific number of people who will qualify. I think that, originally, people thought the government was using it to save money and trying to cut the number of people getting benefits. (Which they may well have been) To my mind, there ARE people who got the old DLA who really shouldn't have. I know a woman with agoraphobia who never goes out but has a mobility car!! There were not even any assessments for the old DLA- it simply relied on a GP's letter, and most GP's didn't want to cause offence to their patients by not supporting them, whereas this is a standard questionnaire and everyone is rated against the same criteria, by someone who doesn't know them, so it should be fairer.
Hopefully, you'll have a better night's sleep tonight, but if you don't, make sure you mention tomorrow that you don't sleep because of stress and anxiety.
And GOOD LUCK tomorrow- let us know how it went...

It needs to be audited before being sent back to DWP for the decision- once it's there they say 3 weeks, but mine's been 4 and counting.
So, I'd phone Atos, see if it's been audited, if it's not ask how long it is likely to be, and whether there were any queries on it- like they have to write to Gp for more info etc.
If it HAS been audited ask when it was sent back to DWP, then phone them and check when they received it- it's posted, so usually a few days later.
    Then count three weeks :)
  • Good morning all, this is all very interesting, I'd just like to share my jouney on claiming pip, telephoned the dwp in middle of nov 2013, received my claim form and sent it back straight away, dec 14th 2013.
Letter reveived 4/3/2014 for a face to face with atos at liverpool on 18/3/2014.
Atos interviewed me and said that he will make sure his report will get me something,he was not interested in what i was answering to his questions, but instead was writing things down which he knew would make my claim sucessful, the interview only took 14 mins, I claimed but was not expecting to be awarded anything tbh, I only have mild osteoarthritis in my hip. The Assesor told me that they have 6 six to submit their report to the dwp, then dwp hope to reach their decisoin in 2-4 weeks. Had a call yesterday, my claim was sucessful and was awarded the standard living component at the standard rate. All together, my claim took 22 weeks.

After being told for weeks that the claim manager makes a decision in 3 weeks, i made my daily call yesterday to be told it is 2-4 weeks now. OMG.. I have had enough now. This claim should be classed as cruelty , there is no need why it should take this long. We don't claim for fun :mad:

I was being told it was three weeks to a decision- kept phoning- 4 weeks now and being told 'it's all delayed because of the holiday' (They were only off for 2 extra days, so why is there a further week's delay?)
