I wonder if anybody knows of the figures where the claimant is refused PIP and is successful at either the MR or appeal. Those that don't appeal either accept the decision as being the right one or don't know what to do or how to do it.
Even if the success figure on MR or appeal is only 50%, it does beg the question if those that don't ask for a MR or appeal, 50% have accepted a wrong decision.

Not sure. A freedom of Information act request might reveal the figures, but that is best left for a journalist. But for some reason the media are not really interested in it. I have tried to highlight the issues of delays, refusals and poor service, but I have seen little in the media about it. I even wrote to the Labour shadow minister for health, thinking they might want to bash the coalition on the figures...... Not interested.... Something funny going on somewhere.

It doesn't surprise me that nothing is being done. No political party or politician wants to be seen as coming down in FAVOUR of benefit claimants. Exposing unsavory facts that do not fit in with any political party's ambition to reduce benefit claimants and the welfare budget just will not happen.

It depends a lot on how strong you are to fight the system and the quality of evidence you have.

There are instructions somewhere. First you phone their helpline number and request a reconsideration. You have 30 days I believe to do this.

Once they agree to look at it again, you will need to send then the reason why you think their decision is wrong.
Re state your disability issues. Use the points chart below to know how they score and where they failed to score your disability properly. Get some legal help from a charity that might normally help those with your condition, Get more evidence like from a GP or other professional who knows your disabilities.

It's certainly worth doing if you feel you have been short changed.

I can't remember when my Dad applied on paper, but he had his home visit about 27th April and he got his letter today (16/05). So almost 3 weeks!
