Well i phoned them. They have got my letter asking for reconsideration , but this takes 8-9 weeks.CM still did'nt phone me about decision. So if anybody out there waiting for call just stick in a reconsideration letter and send recorded delivery .This way you are in the time limits for reconsideration.
Caza, the assesment report is contradictory. It says i walk with a limp and goes of balance and is in constant pain.Yet they have got me running a marathon. lol.Now what i can not understand is why they say i should be reviewed in a year and i will be the same after review.0 -
Don;t believe it they just phoned me after i phoned them.Asking if there was anything else i wanted to add and that my reconsideration is passed on to different DM.But guess what BACKLOGS.0

Surprise surprise...it's a complete shambles. You couldn't make up a more shambolic system, even if you made a concerted effort to do so. I've emailed my MP this afternoon. Not sure if it will speed things up, but thought I'd try.
Does anyone know what happens to your ESA if you are a student and get turned down for PIP. You have to be in receipt of DLA or PIP to get ESA - so if I am turned down for PIP, and ask for MR, will my ESA stop in the interim? And that'll impact on my HB too. Considering I have no projected income from Sept, this is not looking good (bursary c0ck up when I only have until mid Oct to complete my course). Oh my, I am panicking now. It's all a complete and utter mess, and I can't do anything as I'm awaiting decisions left, right and centre...0 -

Hi, so glad you have done this and really hope you get the right decision. I am in the same position as you helping my daughter and yesterday sent in a 7 page letter, more medical and psychological evidence and loads of photos so know how you are feeling. please let us know how you go on.
Tbh I am struggling myself now psychologically. So much was resting on being awarded PIP and I truly believe my daughter deserves it that i went into a depressive slump which I am struggling to control. I am sure the DWP banks on people not having the backbone to fight on. My daughters claim is now 2 days off 1 year exactly!!
I know I have to find the backbone and I know the people on here are super supportive so hopefully it will not be too much longer for those of us having to deal with MR. I will be keeping everything crossed for you and if there is anything I can do to help just ask.
Did you do your MR yourself? I am just a little worried as someone who fought a decline years ago for DLA told me that she was declined twice and then got CAB to do the paperwork which was then successful. I feel that I have a decent enough command of English but am worried that someone else may have put it over better. Anybody have any thoughts on that?
I was so sorry to hear your daughter's claim was declined. A lot of welfare rights agencies are putting things on line to help with claims. Here's one that seems to have had a lot of success helping people put in comprehensive claims. http://www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/personal-independence-payment-pip/pip-appeals I think sometimes what's needed is both a good command of English but also knowledge of how the system works and key words/phrases to use. In my PIP and ESA application I checked out the various CFS/ME help sheets, they helped me use more medical terminology and put it in a way to meet the descriptors.
I can only imagine how low you feel, it's too be understood, like having a rug whipped from underneath you. Yes I agree, I think it's all a ploy so that the 20% cuts target can be met. Hopefully you can draw strength to carry on and your nightmare will be eased soon.0 -

Yup, full time Masters in Social Work, I'm on my last placement on day 65/105 (which may not continue if the bursary situation isn't sorted)I am responsible me, myself and I alone I am not the keeper others thoughts and words.0

So I'm guessing if I get turned down for PIP, my ESA will cease (it's only £15 a week, but passports me to full HB). So I'll temporarily end up in a no man's land, with no bursary, no ESA or PIP but full HB due to no income (although I anticipate they'll take ages to sort themselves out, as they always do) and no way to pay my childcare...
Maybe income support might be something I can look at? My lo is 3, but I am a full time student.
If I knew what was happening with PIP, it'd be so much less stressful as I'd continue to get ESA, and at a higher rate as I wouldn't be getting my bursary any more. Everything is so interdependent, I don't know if I'm coming or going. And all because I can't do the placement full time because my legs are carp and my body misbehaves...I can see how people just give up...0 -

Hi and thank you for the link to the benefits and work website. I am going to wait and see if the MR gets anywhere and may become a member if I can afford to. I had heard they look for key words and statements but I have never claimed any benefit except child benefit so havent a clue how to fill in the claim forms to get the best result. I just feel pretty defeated right now but I will shake myself out of it eventually.
To all those going through MR or waiting to hear, I wish you the best of luck and hope we all come through this with positive results even if some of us have to take a wiggly route:)0
