Well what can I say. The stress levels are starting to rise. They have approx. 8 weeks to complete the property and there is not even a roof on yet.

After it taking so long to get the Mortgage Offer I really do not think I can go throughout that all again if this runs over the 30th April. We could not guarantee that we would be approved again so I could loose the property.

  • Crikey - homebuying/moving is SO stressful at the best of times, I can only imagine the state this must have you in.
I think maybe they would extend without further rigmarole, given the circumstances? I know that it's of no help whatsoever, but I have my fingers crossed for you x

Hi Penny, goodness - what stress!
My BR falls off Credit files on 18 April, am counting the days (have cleared up credit files so just waiting for the magic date when the files suddenly become a couple of pages lighter!)
Could I ask if you actually banked with the nationwide?
I was a lucky one who managed to get a mortgage through Mansfield Building Society in October 2012 (even though it was still within 6 years - I did have a 25% deposit) but it was only for a one bed apartment.
Now looking to move to a house and have enquired at Mansfield and they are just looking at affordability (as partner is going on mortgage this time).
I hope everything comes together soon.
    Best wishes.

    Hi all

still waiting. The developers are supposed to be getting the cml on the 25th April. The mortgage offer expires on the 30th April. Everyone is saying it will be fine as the solicitors will ask for release of funds on the 25th. Can't help worrying.

    UPDATE

CML received last Thursday, funds have been asked for and should be received by the solicitor tomorrow. Mortgage expires on Wednesday 30th so this is going to be close. The developers are saying completion on the 30th so fingers crossed.

    Hooray

we completed last Wednesday the 30th April, the day the mortgage expired. We collected the keys at 4:30 and they were still laying the carpet, so it couldn't have been closer if we had tried.

Anybody out there trying to buy a house and has been declared bankrupt in the past, don't get up. Read this post and you will see the journey I have been on and you can see with a lot of patience you can get there. Our financial advisor was brilliant and that helps a lot if you are honest with them and they are on your side.
