ebay are not implementing, changing or enforcing a law.
All they are doing is changing one or more of their policies and all ebay users have a choice whether to abide by those policies if they wish to sell on the ebay website.

It's no different to ebay stating that all sellers must accept paypal. There is no legislation that states paypal must be offered by ebay sellers, but ebay are still free to have this requirement.

I have never stated or imply changing the law. i am just saying ebay should give their members that DSR does not apply too the option of the 14 day rule. They could be doing it this way to try and get rid of all the kiddie hosts that offer the world for £1 a year, but does not help all the genuine hosts that use ebay

they are doing this to COMPLY with new EU DSR regulations when under DSR you will have 14 days instead of 7 days to return goods.
but DSR does not apply to webs hosting, so their should give members to opt out if DSR does not apply to them.

Why should they? It's their site. As long as they fall within the law, there is no law to say they can't go above and beyond. :rotfl:

ebay are a private company and do not have the power to change any laws.

Everyone on Ebay knows its really 45 days. If a buyer wants to send it back in this time - they can.

Get some legal advice and take Ebay on. Although your money may be better spent on updating your listings and complying. A 14 day 'cooling off' period could be great for your business.

But Earthstorm, surely you realise that because ebay don't actually sell anything, they do not have to comply with DSRs.

What ebay are doing is helping sellers avoid falling foul of the law.

Ok, so you tell us that you don't have to abide by the seven working day cancellation period,* and if you believe ebay should make an exception for you and similar sellers, have you asked ebay to consider you and the like as a special case?


*I make no comment whether of not you are or should be exempt from that aspect of DSRs.
