Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!

I see I forgot to tell you all about a little amusing moment yesterday. I went out for a ciggy after clearing away Sunday lunch. I sat on a low wall with my back to the gravelled area, and I heard Barnes picking his way over. then stopping behind me. I knew what was coming, he does it all the time, he reached up and balanced himself with his paw on my shoulder blade - but instead of 'whupping me upside the head', he realised his claws were stuck in my top, went into reverse and pulled me over!!!!!!!!!!!! I heard laughter coming from lounge and yelled for someone to come and 'detach the cat'! exit one very embarrassed feline.
Today has been lovely and warm again so Barnes has had lots of 'Garden Time'.
and the box of Whiskas pouches in Jelly he was happy to eat a couple of months back is now suddenly out of favour! Atrix, pop in and you can have the rest. for some reason only the Sheba and Gourmet Perle is good enough right now. and the Sheba rabbit variety is his new 'favourite'. he scoffs the lot! he just wouldn't touch it before - I used to save them up and give them to Atrix for his cats.
he is getting fussy! and contrary!
and today - he had one of his rare 'mad half hours'! racing around the house like a cat with its tail on fire! and he was making this silly growly/yowly noise! he knocked no end of stuff off shelves. OH started to get annoyed.....but of course I just laughed. The house is pretty much 'grandkidproof' and therefore 'catproof', and tbh, I think Barnes thinks its funny too.0 -
Thank you for sharing that...it made me laugh! What a cat Barnes is0

Nonnie - Atrix has a new kitten! now I talk about my son and his cats all the time on here, I think we should have pics so everyone has a mental image of Cocoa, Miley (the two ragdolls) and the other 'Cats in Residence' don't you?
ESPECIALLY the new kitten - who I understand is called Taz. bit confused as one grandtwin said it was a ginger, and the other said it was black? you haven't got two and called them both Taz have you?0 -

OK infact Both!.
I paid a rare visit to some dear friends of mine, "taz" the ginger n white 5 month old, would not leave me alone the whole 4 hours I was there (allot to talk about when you haven't seen friends for 2 years), he's a gentle giant, and I mean he's a giant ginger tab for a 5 month old, he's size of lilly now so I dread to think how big he'll get in the growth he got to go, thinks he's going to be bigger than felix (RIP), He was supposed to go to their daughter who landlord first gave permission to them to have him, then when they got him, he pulled the permission away and told them they couldn't have cats in the house (GRR don't you hate a LL like that), they have been trying since to rehome, and well, I kinda had a soft spot because he smooched upto me.
We Also have a 6 week old black kitten (for the moment), now I'm not too sure of the facts so i'll tell what was told, friend of wife acquired this kitten first, she was so angry as she was walking along a foot path and saw two teen boys flinging this black ball, or what she thought was a black ball to eachother, as she got closer, she heared the whimper of a small cat, they were throwing this kitten like a ball and commenting about getting rid of it in the river, she promptly shouted at them when they tossed it over the hedge row aiming for the river and done a runner, luckily the river has been low and kitten landed in some bushes feet shy of the river, she climbed in and fished kitten out, and she got it checked by vet, Vet gave a full bill of health apart from minor scrapes, no broken bones, no snapped tail and all seems well.
Wife got talking to friend who "rescued" the cat, and it seems that her young daughter has "allergic reactions" to kitten, and she needs to rehome, so unbeknownst to me at the time, wife took it in, and kids named her KIKI (I know never let kids name animals people are going to think im calling kinki when she gets out and think thee something going on in my house that's a bit sordid).
so we have acquired 2. black female, ginger n white tabby.
now I'm not too pleased about the black kitten, I love cats I would have a whole world of them in my house if I could, but theres a line I have mentally anguished and drawn over to limit myself to only a couple 4 was what I had forced myself to limit to. I wasn't really looking for a cat when I agree'd to take "taz" on, I still miss my tinkerbell and felix and had mentally vowed that when I was ready I would take on only one and be the end of taking in anymore, and my wife pushed the boundary a bit with my limit, I am still not sure whether, look after and raise, neuter then rehome or keep it.
I'm going to hide now, and not come out till the coast is clear!!0 -
Pics Atrix please! you know I think your cats are gorgeous! and I am sure that Barnes 'fan club' will enjoy seeing them too.
Atrix called in today - but we didn't see that much of him as he 'waxed the car' as a favour to OH. Barnes did wander down to the gate to watch Atrix - when the sun came out!
youngest GD wasn't in school and was dropped off on her dads way to pick up the grandtwins. 20 mins later the fairy cakes were in the oven! she loves to 'make cakes'! and Barnes really loved having her to himself - he 'talked' to her, rubbed up against her and sat smiling at her.............and then the grandtwins came in and he was so pleased to see them too.
I have been a bit of a boring cat mummy today - I suddenly realised that DIL (not Atrixs' wife but other sons') was due in six weeks! and I ALWAYS make a 'handknitted matinee outfit' for a new baby. so it was get the wool out and the needles and get stuck in. I am not the worlds best or fastest knitter, so Barnes got a bit ignored by me. he did get his meals, and G&T on time though.
um, last night he spent the night in the porch - I left the middle door open when I locked up the back door, didn't notice him sneaking in and locked the front door and closed the middle door and went off to bed. I heard this commotion this morning and OH saying to Barnes 'Awwwwww did you have to spend the night in here then? Did SHE shut you in here?' I got 'The Glare' when I got up - but a few dreamies and I was back in his good books! that cat is soooooo Cheap!0 -
Definitely photos required, please!!
I really feel that Kiki has found her forever home lol
The matinee outfit sound lovely, there is nothing nicer than babies with knitted cardigans etc, my mum is a dab hand and maybe one day I'll give it a go. But my 'thing' is hand painted ceramics and I like to paint a baby moon night light as a gift, I think people appreciate when you take time to make something....I know I loved all the knitting mum did for my two.
I was thinking of you tonight Meritaten as my dd and I aren't long home from the cinema after watching 'Pride'. Really enjoyed the film as I didn't know the story very well, was a bit young when it all happened, but thought the actors were fab and I just loved the Welsh accent, have you seen it?0 -
No I haven't seen Pride' is that the one about the Lesbian/Gay help to striking miners?
Yes I have just 'googled it'. um, we were aware that gay and lesbian people were 'helping' our cause. but, to be honest - for us personally - we didn't see that.
for myself and my husband and kids - it was mostly German and Dutch help we saw - in the two bags of food we got each week. roflmao - it was 'mystery supper' every night! as neither of us spoke Dutch or German and sometimes the pic on the tin - bore no relation to the contents.
The 'Accent' is a bit more pronounced than I am used to. I would say 'exaggerated' as we don't really talk like that in the valleys now. - but to others perhaps we do sound like that!!!!!!!!!!! my DDs husband is only from one valley over and his accent is more pronounced than ours - though less than in the film. I should say that at the time of the strike the film is about - OH and I were in our twenties. we had DD who had just started school and DS1 and DS2 was a baby of a few months. it was awful - over a year of being absolutely broke - losing our car because we couldn't even afford to replace spark plugs! never mind tyres. we were about to buy a house - that fell through. our savings went on food within a couple of months. luckily we were in council rented accommodation and they were fantastic. otherwise we could have been homeless. I know some families whose private landlords kicked them out. I could write pages - but I wont. looking back - it was absolutely horrible - and Christmas wouldn't have happened without the kindness of neighbours. they gave me toys for the kids. and some of them even gave me food. my OH was one of the few in the street who was a miner - and we became a sort of 'pet project' for them.
I banned the kids from going outside if I heard the ice cream van - but they knew the neighbours would 'treat' them. losing battle there!
You do 'hand painted Ceramics'? that is amazing. I so admire that. oh a baby moon light sounds lovely. you sell online? it would make a perfect 'baby gift' (I don't count the knitted set).0 -
I'll get some all new pics sorted for tomorrow night, coco miley lilly taz and kiki.
coco's all grown up now since ive posted pics of them.
will sort for tomorrow.0 -
Hi Meri,
I've finally found a cure for my flea problem, though perhaps a touch unorthodox. We're dog sitting for mum at the moment and the fleas seem to just jump off the cats onto him. The great thing is he is happy to be brushed and fussed for hours so I can catch all the fleas off him0 -

I've tried to upload a photo, I hope it's worked!
I really enjoy painting christmas ceramics and up to last year painted throughout the year to sell at the kids primary school to raise funds for the school. DS has just started the academy so it's very strange not having my kitchen taken over by christmas trees and decorations as I wouldn't do it for such a large school. I don't sell online as I always thought that having it as a job would take the fun out of it, but would not have a problem painting for anyone who wants something as I love it and I'm running out of space in my house for new items!
Loved the film but I don't think it portrayed enough how difficult life must have been for everyone involved, however I'm definitely glad we went to see it and I think it was good for dd to see how different life was back then for a lot of people, plus it had some really funny parts.
Let me know if you can view the photo and if not I'll get hubby to help when he comes in from work xx0
