Grandcat having extended 'sleepover'!
Comments
-
GD1 came over after lunch and he loves her too. she doesn't usually let him sleep with her as he is fascinated with her hair. its very thick and curly and he keeps taking the band off it when she sleeps.............which means it takes her ages to get all the tangles out in the morning! he did enjoy playing with GS1 though for a while and GD2 makes a fuss of him so he is quite content now.
Aww that reminded me of my old cat Velcro, she wasn't all there, but she'd love playing fetch with the thick hairbands. She'd steal them if she got the chance. Then again I'd rather that, than my mums old cat who would pick out her earplugs, whilst she was using them. My dad never believed my mum till he finally caught her doing it, mum being fast asleep.
Under 2 months on in the new place. Cat well happy with his brand new super tall cat tree, brand new mould free box on the sil, and addition of a few extra storage heaters. Loving the window views (and finally he's realised he doesn't need to scarper when someone walks past, he's safe with the net and glass!) Place is a lot warmer as well during the day as we get full sun, so he's in heaven now. He's gone back to using all of the cat tree too, which means he's well settled! He got a brand new one as he totaled the last one, but this is really tall, though I still had to source a wide berth platform (in red) as he was simply too bulky to fit on the supplied ones. I then also had to screw the two platforms together to mitigate the wobbles as he goes up!
Very contented, even caught him in the box. Mind you, caught in the box is a very loose description (see below!)

what a gorgeous cat - I do love Gingers (even though Cat Snobs call them 'reds'). Lifeforms, that cat looks really relaxed and happy!
Barnes has had a lovely day - he has caught at least three large houseflies (and eaten them)! and chased a few more out of the house!
had the pleasure of child company this morning and visitors at lunchtime who all vied to play with him - he was in heaven!
He had OH to himself all afternoon and I think the 'boys' had a TV fest! at least Barnes cushions were piled up next to where OH sits when I came home.
When I came home he was pleased to see me - as it was 'suppertime'! oh yes...........I had bought a sheba tray meal as a treat...........he wolfed that down!
I thought I saw another flea on him and so did OH - but dammed if we can find it on him. I think another Household 'defleaing' is in order!0 -
yep, definitely another flea and he isn't due to have another spot-on until next week. (caught the flea btw). will phone the vets for advice tomorrow. could be that the effects of the spot on are 'accumalative', if that's the right word.
his apatite is still that of a teenage boy! he just had another supper! I think he would raid the cupboard if he could get into it!
still showing signs of 'nuttiness' - he cant seem to sit still today. wandering around as if he is looking for something - getting toys out, then not playing with them - coming over for strokes, then changing his mind and going into kitchen. then this afternoon he played 'jumpingonandoffthepatiotable'. he has never done that before! lol I watched him in amazement - he just jumped on, turned round, jumped off, turned round, jumped back on again, turned round...........he did this about four or five times - then came in and had a rest on settee back. weird. unless his ladylove was up in bedroom window and he wanted to impress her with his 'jumpingonpatiotable' prowess?
Give up BarneyBoy - she definitely is NOT interested. Even OH laughs now when he is sat 'mooning' up at her! he says 'Barnes - you look like an idiot'!0 -
omg! the fleas must have 'hatched'! I got six of him this morning! SIX! all rather small and easy to catch I admit. The vets say to carry on with the spot-ons and spray the house again. Problem is, is that I think he is getting them from the garden! But I have the spray so will do the house yet again! its only about three months since its been done - but will follow vet advice.
I didn't have time to go up vets today - so will have to make a detour when I take GS2 to school, in the morning, and pick up more spot-ons and another worming tab. (I always do the two together as I believe where theres fleas - theres worms!)
he hasn't liked me grabbing him and flea-combing him at random moments! necessary though - when those fleas were visible on his coat - definitely 'sick' fleas - just hope this lot didn't breed!
to make up for all this - I bought him his favourite Applaws tins from up the shop - Chicken and Pumpkin - YUMMMMYYYY!
his human siblings visited today - and one of the twins took my binoculars and stood on patio table...............Barnes was rather annoyed - kept yowling loudly at her! could almost hear him say 'OI! that's MY table! Geddown! after a couple of minutes she laughed, sat down and patted the table to invite him up...........he jumped up and kept bumping her back, rofl, as if to say 'this is MY table - get offffff!'0 -
hopefully the flea problem is now sorted - but I am not impressed with the staying power of the spot-ons!
GS2 day today, Barnes knows that he doesn't get played with in the early morning, so tends now to just snooze. lol, while GS2 consumes two or three breakfasts.
barnes got a VERY thorough grooming today! so thorough, he got fed up and tried to walk away and was willing to go without his treat stick! He did look beautiful afterwards though. all shiny and sleek (well as sleek as a Persian CAN look).
OH had a prob with pain between his shoulder blades and asked me to Reiki it and manipulate it a bit. So he stretched out on the floor while I did that - but Barnes kept rubbing himself on his head and giving his face little sniffs, lol, so it was a very short session, as I kept giggling, and OH kept saying 'Stop it Barnes, BARRRRRNNNNNEs!' But it must have been a worry to Barnes, he seemed convinced there was something wrong with OH and showed his concern..............at least I think that's what he was doing.0 -
I can see a lightening storm coming up the valley - so I am going to shut down and go and watch it. its not often we are treated to a good storm - must make the most of it! will post later if I haven't toddled off to bed.0
-
well, that was strange last night. sort of random lightening and thunder, for a few hours. I do have surge protection but its mainly for domestic electricity surges, not lightening strikes! and I didn't want my hard drive 'fried'!
Barnes doesn't mind storms in the slightest. he just freaks out at 'hailstorms'. Thunder? he doesn't stir. Lightning? he may blink. Hail? he yowls and seeks comfort!
it rained last night and this morning too. so Barnes declined to go out until the decking dried out!
I had a 'lovey-dovey' cat today - for some reason he wouldn't go far from me. I sat down - I had Barnes behind me on settee back. sniffing my hair or coming down to settee arm to sniff my face and pat my arm. get up and go to kitchen............and Barnes follows me. go up to Bathroom - yep - Barnes comes too! keep picking him up and cuddling him - he seems to like that! he must have missed us while we were away on holiday...........I feel like promising him he can come too...............but, would cats really like caravans and lounging on a beach?0 -
Some cats do enjoy going with their owners on holiday. One of my mums old cats went on a camping trip with her once. She happily went around the campsite visiting the visitors! She led one person over to her "tent" who was trying to work out where this cat had come from, of course she would happily go food hunting as well, less mouse, more human food
She learnt very quickly where her tent was, and really enjoyed the car journey as well.
You have to risk it the first time, but make sure a cat like that is microchipped, collared, and you make the caravan site aware of it. Also depends how busy it is, and whether the cat will be fine with a busy area, and be happy to be shut in the caravan when you're out and about. Unfortunately some cats are more desirable and likely to be nicked as well.0 -
unfortunately many sites have a no cat rule, if not a no pet rule, for the hire vans. I did check. plus we can spend all day out of the 'van and I know just how hot they can get inside - I don't think I would feel comfortable taking him. and he seems to have been ok with Son and DIL looking after him. will worry about that next year!!!
I would also worry he would wander off and get nicked - red and white flat faced Persians are extremely expensive cats and it isn't immediately apparent he is not able to breed. plus, he is so people oriented he would let anyone pick him up!
Bought him a huge tub of catnip today - cost £8, but boy has it revitalised his toys! refilled his catnip mousethatsreallyahedgehog, and the leopardspotted mouse - and he went nuts! not only was he batting at them and rolling around with them, rabbit kicking them - he licked them very thoroughly all over until they were sopping wet! I now have a slightly 'stoned' cat! and its given him the munchies! he has kept going back and forth his dry food, rofl!0 -
My cats hve never taken to catnip really. There was one toy (it came with Harley) that had catnip in that Tikka would snuggle with occasionally but tht's all.
Sad day today here, we had to have Blackie PTS as he had kidney failureThe other cats seem a bit lost now - Tikka had a love/hate thing with hiim and was forever hissing at him and Casper would always cuddle up with him at night.
