lovely lazy morning today - Barnes has hardly left my side though. He spent most of yesterday evening on his 'cushion pile' next to OH, slept curled up against my back, and this morning has stuck to me like glue! I kept tripping over him. Think he was making sure I wasn't going to disappear again. Had to do the duty visit up mums this afternoon but he seemed to realise its Sunday (Roast dinner prob gave him the clue), so he accepted that.

but, he has stayed close since I came home - until I gave him his tablet and treats - now he has gone upstairs! just in case I shove another one down his throat perhaps?
I dunno if its the steroids - but he smells strange...............sort of musty. its really weird. he doesn't smell like my Barnes, I noticed it yesterday, but thought I was just imagining it. will see if the smell fades after he has his last dose on Tues.
he is still my Barnes though - but with a ravenous apetite! I am going to weigh him later this week too. I swear he has put on a few pounds since he first saw vet. they have a scales in the waiting room so when I pop up for his next spot-on I will pop him on there.

We got back on Friday afternoon, I was greeted by miley with a fart in the face and clawing on the knee and a hop off the lap and look of disgust, coco didn't bother with us at all until we got into bed, then started making all sorts of noises, cheers coco after 2hr and half hour drive home, half hour haulin the stuff out the car hours worth of sorting cloths that's dirty and clean from suitcases, cooked food then bed I was looking forward to a sleep until you started up with the noises (he sounds like a pigeon when he gets going).

tip for you Atrix - when on holiday, put all the dirty clothes in one suitcase or bin liner as they are taken off, and then you pack the clean clothes in another - already sorted laundry! Remember I used to do that when we had the caravan? I still do it when on holiday and it saves hours when you get home!

TBH, we just wanted to pack and be on our way. prednisolone for me prevented me from sweating when I was a kid, I often wondered why class mates would sweat buckets in hot weather play football and I didn't shed a single drop, had an insatiable appetite, its rare in humans but may be more prominent in cats and animals so perhaps its preventing him form producing dander thus altering his known common fur scent.

he is still sticking to me like glue! and I noticed that even though he is fast asleep on the settee, if I move, he watches me through slitted eyes............and I cant go to the bathroom on my own now! he also is far more 'cuddly' - he cant seem to get enough of being cuddled.........while patting my face gently. gazing into my eyes and 'catsmiling' at me. I am enjoying this, before he would get fed up after a couple of minutes and squirm out of my arms - now I am the one putting him back down because I need to go do something (housewifely usually).

he has been out in the garden - but kept me within sight. luckily he can watch both me and his ladylove from his vantage point on the patio table, lol. Yes he was out there mooning over her again!

he is eating for Wales! I need to do yet ANOTHER Barney shop - I got extra before I went on holiday and there is only another two or three days worth left!

Wow, this weather is glorious isn't it? into the SECOND week of September and its still blue skies and sunshine! I expect good weather in the first week of September (even back when I was a girl - the first week back in school the weather was always lovely).

barnes will be expecting this to continue I think, he takes it for granted now he can get up, have breakfast and go out in garden. not sure how we will cope when weather changes and its back to cold, wet and miserable. I will get the blame of course! I didn't switch the sun on or the rain off!

last tablet tonight and I didn't even have to wrap him in towel to administer it. he is such a good cat! Not quite opening his mouth to receive the tablet but certainly not resisting. his mind must be on the extra dreamies he gets after.

two of the grandgirls came today after school, and boy was he pleased to see them! they lay on the floor and he kept snuggling them and sniffing their hair and giving 'catkisses'. he absolutely loves them and must have missed them last week (they were on holiday too as you may have gathered from Atrix's post). They were in Dorset and we were in Cornwall.

it was so sweet the way he wouldn't leave them alone! C had a nice long cuddle with him - unusual as he normally doesn't let them although he will lie down with them and put a paw round them. today it was full on 'catlove'!

I must stop being lazy and using Microwave rice - when I am getting the packet out and ready for the 'poppety ping', he hears it and thinks its his dreamies! good job I never give him the full daily allowance! so he gets a few and I know its bad - I am just training him to react to the sound of the rice packet - but, he looks at me so hopefully................I cant resist.

I don't normally use it - but its so handy when OH is on call like he is this week - he has only been in for fifteen minutes and just got another callout! not really enough time to cook rice! at least I can keep a casserole hot in oven for him and do rice in two minutes flat!

not much to say today - Barnes ate, slept, kept an eye on me in case I disappeared again. he mooned over his ladylove - even tried serenading her (at least I think that's what he was doing), but he is having no success whatsoever - she aint interested.

oh and the spot on from the vet doesn't work! found a flea on him on Monday and one today! They weren't exactly lively but they did bite him - I am wondering whether to make a suit of armour for him?
  • Meri, I'm still threatening to shave my lot if they keep bringing home fleas ;)

Barnes must be finding them in the garden as he has zero contact with other cats!
lol his missus - you could then say they were those 'hairless cats'. very rare breed! seriously, I found yet another flea on him this morning - I think a chat with the vet may be in order before I get another of the useless spot-ons. The ruddy cheap Armitage ones worked better!
he has been a right nutter today! racing up and down stairs as if the devil was on his tail! yowling for no reason, in and out the garden, doing laps of the living room without touching the floor........... I am exhausted just watching him! I can only think he is feeling so much better! but this is NOT his usual behaviour - steroids perhaps?

a happy cat today - he had the pleasure of GS2s company this morning - he decided to get up at sparrowfart with me so not only did I have to do GS2s breakfasts I had to provide Barnes with his as well. (I say 'breakfasts' because GS2 wont eat breakfast at home now - nanny is stupid enough to buy cocopops - and then he has a bacon sandwich without the bread, and biscuit and drink). then off we go to school...................OH was here so we had transport instead of getting the bus.
its been a bit cloudy today, but not cold so he has been out in garden - birdwatching and ladylove watching, then joy of joys, his Twins arrived this evening! he was in heaven!

Twins just been taken to bed and they fell asleep after their story - so its all peace and quiet in Chez Meritaten. Barnes was watching TV with OH - I bet he will go keep them company in a while. he loves to sleep on the pillows between them. and will not stir until they get up in the morning.

no fleas today!!!! or they were hiding well. will phone vets on Monday and tell them he still getting fleas and getting bitten. granted its only one bite or two - but we don't want ANY bites! he is so allergic to them.

OH still on call over weekend - and Barnes wasn't happy last night til OH came in - he went rushing to the door as the van was being parked and didn't half give OH an ear-bashing. lol, sounded very like 'and what time do you call this?' 'I've been worried about you' 'you couldn't phone?' 'mum doesn't pile my cushions up for me to watch tv!' OH just made a bit of fuss of him and he was instantly forgiven!

I was right, barnes slept with Twins last night. got up with them this morning. actually they got up before me - bless them they were trying to be quiet and not wake me - but the totally abnormal sound of my computer booting up woke me!
I think Barnes was disappointed that they went home earlier than usual - they wanted to go home and play with their friends. I think Barnes was hoping for a game or two of 'chuckthegravel' or 'pingponguppastairs' or even the extra dreamies they give him.
never mind - GD1 came over after lunch and he loves her too. she doesn't usually let him sleep with her as he is fascinated with her hair. its very thick and curly and he keeps taking the band off it when she sleeps.............which means it takes her ages to get all the tangles out in the morning! he did enjoy playing with GS1 though for a while and GD2 makes a fuss of him so he is quite content now.

He isn't quite so manic today - he has had some 'mad moments' but nothing like he was Thursday!
