I was also on holiday, its hard to get bk in the swing of things but your doing really well... 2 years is not far off at all! :-)

Thank you SammyJo :) I would love to pay it off quicker but Im not prepared to stay in and have no life what so ever in order to do it. I need to do things as well as pay my debt off.

Where did you go on holiday? Hope you had a lovely time.

I had a nice little tax rebate when I arrived home from holiday, at the moment that is in my savings because with Christmas Coming up I do not want to be putting any of it on credit card and setting myself further back, plus if anything were to happen to my car which I need for work I would have to pay for repairs or a new car on credit.

I know its not advisable to have savings when you have debt, but I suppose I am trying to prevent the possibility of having to add any further debt.

    Hi Laura,

I completely agree with your thoughts on this. IMO there is nothing more demoralising than seeing your card balance go back up when you have worked so hard on getting it down.

When I was paying off my debts having some money in a savings account was a great little buffer and helped me a lot more mentally than paying it straight off a debt.

Another thing that helped me was always carrying £200 in my wallet. I never spent it, but having it there meant that I was choosing not to buy something, rather than being unable to buy something. A minor difference but it worked for me.

Well done on giving up the smoking :j

Thank you for your support! That actually sounds like a really great idea, a way of proving to myself that I can have that amount of money and not spend it!

I think I am going to carry on with my savings account for that exact reason! :T

Thanks it has been really difficult and I have slipped up a few times especially since quitting the gym, really thinking about joining again because I need something else to focus on to take my mind of smoking

Paid another £40 off of my Barclays CC today, thats £80 of overpayments on top of the minimum payment of £130 ive paid this month.

I will update my signature to show this so I can keep a track.

I have just over one week till payday, hoping I can overpay by as much next month if not more. I do still have a small amount of money left this month aswell so providing im good this week I may even be able to pay more!

Such a nice feeling :D i also re-joined the gym today and got a really cheap deal so feeling excited, and It will prevent me going to the pub with my friends instead.

    Evening diary!

This weekend hasn't been so bad, I went out for dinner with the OH on saturday, but it wasn't very much £15 in total each. Its very rare we do that so was a nice treat.

At work all this week so wont be spending any money, and its payday friday :D wooohoooo! Means I can pay some more money to my Barclays CC. Planning to go to the gym or swimming pretty much every evening this week to make the most of my new membership, which I feel is pretty good at £24.99 per month and I can go as much as I like with swimming included in the price!

Need to find my motivation, and make sure I stick to going to the gym and also to getting on with my nail course as once it is done I can start earning some extra money.

I should be left with £30 when it gets to payday so I am planning to pay this to the credit card also!

Looking around my room today I can see where all this debt has been spent..... on clothes, shoes etc ... I am pretty much to my maximum now with used up space. Time to have a big clear out and get some things on ebay! I certainly don't need to buy any more for a while!

    :)

Today is payday :) I have paid my minimum payment of £120 to Barclays plus and extra £90 today! Along with the minimum payment of £30 to the Natwest card :)

Next payday my payments will take under £5000 on the Barclays and under £3000 on the Natwest. Seems silly but actually seems like I'm starting to get somewhere!

I've budgeted myself £30 per week to spend on what i want, which is more than enough, and if there is any left I will be putting that to the barclaycard aswell! :)

I've put £300 aside for Christmas this month because I really do not want to use any credit for presents this year!! Unlike previous years.

    Feeling positive! X

So after falling off the stop smoking wagon briefly and being stupid enough to pay £7 odd per pack I have finally had a strong word with myself and decided to stop again .... this time once and for all now I know I cannot just have the one ... because I full blown start again!!!!!

Finances are going well, I am budgeting and watching all money I spend. Barclaycard is down to £5100 and will be under £5k by my November payday. :D Cutting out the £7 packs of ciggys is sure to help matters again!

    Hello Diary,

So everything seems to be going well in terms of cutting my spending habits down, I have started asking myself if I really need something before purchasing it. This seems to be working well because spur of the moment purchases without thinking is one of the main reasons I am in this position. So far I have stopped myself buying: An Ipad, and a new mobile which in complete honesty I dont really need because I have a phone and laptop.

I am staying focused to paying off this debt once and for all, the amount of money I will free up on not paying all of this money out on debt will allow me to save and buy all the nice things I want but with my own money not borrowed.

My Barclays credit card comes off of its 0% in January so I am starting to look around for the best deal to get a balance transfer hopefully for 27 months which will give me plenty of time to pay the whole lot off.

    :D
