Although this feels a little weird as im just talking to myself, im finding this diary and coming on here is keeping me focused!
I have worked out all my outgoings this month, and should have £170 left to overpay my Barclays credit card. Having balanced transferred a lot of it onto 0% cards, I have £1100 left on it ... once its under £1000 I know I will want that gone ASAP. Every spare penny will be going to it.
I'm aiming to have as many NSD's as possible up until 18th February which is payday again, I know this week I should be able to get to Friday without spending anything, as will spend my evenings in the gym which I have already paid for this month.
Also this is day 12 being smoke free, and I feel amazing! Ive noticed all my money not being swallowed.... im really not missing getting to the point where im skint 2 weeks before payday and use my credit cards to buy fags instead (Thats happened a lot) Scary how you will literally resort to ANYTHING to buy ciggys when you have run out... even raiding the change jar. But not anymore for me, plus I smell so much nicer now!
I plan to drop in again and update on friday .. to see how I got on with my planned No spend week

Well done on the no smoking! You should seriously give yourself a pat on the back for that! Have you thought of putting the extra you're not spending on them into a pot for savings? Might be a good motivational tool. Or even downloading an app that shows how much you've saved. I'm sure I got on for my mum once that showed she'd saved something like £10,000 in the 15 years she hasn't smoked. Maybe QuitNow or something like that?Save0

Thank you
Its 2 weeks tomorrow being smoke free.... I cant believe how quick its gone. I have been saving some and paying some straight to credit cards
Either way im not smoking the money anymore :j
I will have a look at quitnow, I have an app on my phone which counts how much ive saved, how many days smoke free, and how many ciggys I actually would have smoked in this time. Its like 200 odd fags I would have smoked.... I think of 200 fag butts all in front of me, and that is enough to keep me put off!
Thanks for the support its always nice to come on here and motivate myself! This is NSD number 2 for me in a row, hoping this week is going to carry on the same way

Hello Laurag,
You are not talking to yourself in this diary, people like me are reading and enjoying, but just not always stopping to say hi :hello:
I too have been in debt for [STRIKE]pretty much[/STRIKE] all of my 20's; a credit card here and some car finance there. Sometimes it's only a couple of hundred and sometimes a few thousand. I have got them down but let them creep back up. One time I got a credit card just to 'treat myself' when I had just bought my house and felt like I didn't have as much money to spend on clothes any more. Hindsight, eh!?
When my younger sister turned 18 I remember giving her the advice not to get a credit card, no store cards, nothing. But I think that everyone needs to learn, and so she did get one, and I think my mum had to help her pay some of it back or something, I didn't ask too much but I know that she had to learn and work it out for herself!
Anyway, I shall be subscribing and following you as you go

Thanks Kei,
I will get there slowly, one step at a time. Trying to make sure I have stopped the smoking once and for all, had some pretty bad cravings this evening that I didnt think I could get past but I actually managed not to cave in. Tomorrow will be 14 days smoke free for me.
Once im sure I have got through it and properly given up this time I will focus on going to the gym, and using my spare money to clear my debts

Keep strong, sounds like you're doing so well! If you are anything like me, I find it hard to give 100% to more than one or two things at a time, so I've picked my uni work (finishes finally in April!) and my debts. Given up worrying about eating habits and exercise until after April. So what I'm trying to say is pick one or two things max and give it your all![STRIKE]Family £400[/STRIKE] CC1 [STRIKE]£415[/STRIKE] Lloyds [STRIKE]£460[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]Natwest£750[/STRIKE] £627.59 Tesco [STRIKE]£1880[/STRIKE] £1725 Grand total £2,352.59

I appreciate your advice
I was thinking similar.... About the not trying to do too much at the same time. I have a demanding job aswell which is full time and quite pressurised!
I think the non smoking and debt busting need to be the most important at the moment, as they go hand in hand.... Not smoking will save me a lot of money which can then be used to pay off debt
Once I'm out of the feeling rubbish stage of being a non smoker I can focus fully on the gym and healthy eating!
Wish me luck I may need it ha ha xTotal debt to pay: £14,071.41/ Remaining debt: £12,884.12: Amount Paid: £1,187.29

Thank you, I am really desperate to get rid of it now I know im going to need a new car in the not so distant future... mine is a heap!
I fell off the non smoking wagon for a few days everything got on top of me and I let myself turn to smoking again to make myself feel better..... It did the complete opposite!
As promised I said I would update on Friday, and I can proudly say I managed a whole No spend week!!!!!! Im going to keep doing this until just before payday and whatever I have left which should be approx £150 will be going to Barclaycard :j
