He is really down now. He is not even getting interviews, and now been turned down for a part time postie job
Money is really tight at the moment, and every penny counts.
Sorry to hear that, GI. It must be very demoralising for your DH. I hope something good happens for him soon.
I have sorted out most of the bits of paper that were cluttering up my desk, posted the letters - so the cane toad has miraculously disappeared- done WMx2 and been out for an hour and a half this evening to a music group practice, so today at least I have spoken to some other people apart from my DH. None of the tradesmen turned up, though the bathroom delivery did. And I managed to get 2 bargains by Googling: a 3% discount voucher (better than nothing!) and half price brand new lights :money: but I have spent those savings on the Iona concert tickets. Very little housework done today...

Ionafan: I thought you were a fan of the island! :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Pigpen: Can we sneak out for a swift half? Do you think anyone would notice?
GI: So sorry to hear DH's postie job didn't materialise; it really is demoralising being unemployed. Massive (((hugs))) all round.
Mrs Dog very unsettled because of the GA and drugs generally. I wasn't supposed to take her for a walk tonight, but she badly needed to feel normal again and would have been utterly heartbroken not to have gone, so we tottered around the smallest block and we're having an early night. The sooner she gets some proper sleep and her gums heal, the better.Better is good enough.0 -

I have been to Yorkshire Sculpture Park Today. You have to pay to park the car but after that you can spend as much or as little as you like; it's beautiful, loads to see and I haven't seen it all and I want to go again. Next time we won't park where we parked today but we will go on to the next parking - adjacent to picnic site and a better place to have as a base, we decided. We shall take a picnic, too. Impressed my friend by recognising artists before we read the label (for v well know sculptors that is;))
Stout shoes are a must though...Great for kids; lots of space (but water - river/pond/lake so need an eye kept)

I long to go to the island, but haven't managed to get there yet. The band take their name from the island - they often write it as IONA, to differentiate.
Spent nearly an hour this morning re-washing the painting tray, roller and brush which DH thought were clean  so he is now in a BD mood, made worse by a flash and a crackle when he switched on the lounge light (it was only a blown bulb). I am trying to find a particular packing case labelled "Steps Crafts" which I know is somewhere in the lounge - but all the boxes are piled up on each other and I can't move them. If I can get one wall painted in the downstairs bedroom - and I really don't know how much I will be able to do before my shoulder objects: it's still hurting - we will be able to move all the packing cases in there and I can start stripping the lounge wallpaper. And now that I've moved the food from its temporary home in the over-sink cupboard in the utility, I am going to unpack some flower vases, stack them in their new permanent home and get rid of another empty box or two, then DH can remove some of my stuff from his garage.
It's going to be a fun weekend (not)...0 -
Morning all
Ionafan- strength and patience coming your. My DH is not in the cheeriest of moods, hoping today will be the end of the decorating (well the big bit anyhow); I've decluttered him to take DS3 to the track and to B&Q for supplies.
I've already eaten half of a small but annoying frog, I really need to get things done today. Shower next and then rabbits out before seeing what I can do before going to MrL and to collect DS3.The birds of sadness may fly overhead but don't let them nest in your hair0 -
Been working all week and now slept in today!!! Plan .....
WM on - done
get dressed!
Give DD lift
Shopping
Swimming
Watch DGS
going to do kitchen and bathroom today
Tomorrow will do upstairs and ironing
Also going to batch cook for freezer
horrible weather here so the upside is, I don't have to do the garden!!!!:rotfl:0 -
Ionafan best tip I have regarding paint rollers and brushes - clingfilm them very tightly between usages and don't bother with all of that horrible washing - works for over 48 hours. (And then, if you're like OH and me and have a box full of decorating things that have collected over the years - chuck them out at the end of the job. Very Not MSE, but I am so tired of the mountainous pile of carp in the attic, can't face another doing yet another car boot as a seller and it means the hideous job of roller washing is no longer part of my life. But that's just between those of us who have to DIY and Declutter.)
Mrs Dog has finally stopped drooling, been walked, healthy decluttering of stomach contents, fed and dosed with five different pills and tablets. She's a lot happier this morning, slightly spaced out and uncertain, but on the mend.
Pigpen If 20 yards is sufficient to get you from the door to the roadside, I'll drive by in a little while and pick you up. Yours is the first shout, which obviously won't set you back an arm and leg as I'm driving. Or would you rather wait until Sunday lunchtime? I've always thought a swift half then is the height of civilization in a country with fabulous pubs.Better is good enough.0
