the wheel was not damaged by the screwdriver head - the damage was caused by the object scratching the allow when the tyre was removed and that object scratched the alloy.
  • Dear God its only a blinking scratch, and yes the tyre fitter should have been on the lookout for this as the tyre came off.

Its a simple refurb but not for the local touch up geezer that comes in and paints the stone chips for £50, it need to go to a proper wheel refurb workshop who will fill recut and lacquer.

Their responsibility not yours, very poor attitude from the dealer but then its a German car so to be expected.

First port of call is the dealer principal.
  • OP have you got a full size spare?

Because that repair may take some time.

So you don't have a spare or is you spare a space saver?

The problem is you will only have 3 wheels while the repair is being done. Probably take about a week, that's why BMW are saying a new wheel is needed.

Looks like they are either going to have to give you a new wheel or a car while the repair is done.

I can't believe they couldn't get it out! Have they never heard of plyers! On that basis alone they look incompetent.

How did they scratch the alloy? It makes no sense.

Because they obviously didn't pull the offending item out of the tyre BEFORE attempting to take the tyre off the rim. Total absence in common sense if you ask me.

You can't get thicker than a Kwik fit fitter ;)

Take 'em to the cleaners. Don't settle for less than £100k anguish, suffering and personal distress either
