So what are kids into these days?

ahhh yes, we should have warned you of the technology expertise of even the youngest child, and of the paragon that is 'everyone else's mum' Glad it's going well.
Yup, "everyone else's" Mum / Dad / Granny / second cousin allows every other 8 year old in the world to eat a constant diet of saturated fat and sugar, never sleep, play computer games a lot, and swim the rest of the time....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
This thread has been a delight.
OP, you're brilliant. I hope your OH appreciates you. Glad everything is going well.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..

I wouldn't go as far as to say brilliant, but thank you
Yes, she does appreciate me and she has been quite the lifesaver attending to my poorly back and neck so that I could give the impression of being in perfect health.
Currently the kids and their mum is in bed and partner is in the bath.0 -
So they went back home yesterday afternoon. A few tears were shed by my partner and her cousin; they seemed to have a nice time together.
The kids seemed happy overall as well. I managed to sort a few trips out for them. The eldest was into astronomy, so I took them to Jodrell Bank one day - I was rather shocked that despite the fact they live closer to Jodrell Bank than I do, none of the kids had heard of it and so I can only conclude educational standards in this country are really slipping! We went there three or four times when I was at school but whatever...
Discovery, Nat Geo and History also provided quite a few space-related documentaries, although in History's case it appeared to be a bunch of ridiculous, paranoid conspiracy theories about aliens helping Hitler (yeah, that went well) and top secret laboratories scattered across the globe where aliens are on the payroll and only a few crackpots know about. Nevertheless, it provided some entertainment value, as did my BD of Brian Cox's Wonders of the Solar Sytem.
Took them to Alton Towers as well, thankfully with a discount voucher I scored from our selection of corporate hospitality things at work because that place works out as really quite expensive. I know we British are supposed to be in love with the idea of queuing but it did seem rather pricey for a good queue. Nonetheless, they all seemed to enjoy it, even though some of the more exciting rides were off-limits due to the height restrictions.
The younger daughter seemed to be quite enamored with my dogs, especially Zoe. I did check before she left that she hadn't attempted to lure any away. She was quite big on reading; in fact she spent most of her time outside reading on a Kindle while petting Zoe's head. She also enjoyed the trips taken, and quite liked the park.
The boy... ahh the poor boy, in a house full of women he has no chance, and he knows it but it doesn't stop him trying. He enjoyed some of the Xbox games I got (Lego this and that) as well as FIFA and also was quite interested in space and astronomy as well as dinosaurs, especially the big ones. Seems a rather typical boy in that respect.
But as I say, they left yesterday so the house actually seems quiet. It hasn't taken that long to get back into our normal routine, watching TV together and then a late night bath for my partner. One oddity though which hasn't happened before is that my partner woke me up at 3am to ask me to marry her.0 -

AND ????
You can't leave us with that cliffhanger!
Well at first my response was what may have come across as a garbled "what time is it?". I don't make the most sense when I'm half-asleep, you see. It had just turned three, which means I'd only been asleep for about 30 minutes. Anyway...
Then I needed to establish it wasn't a dream. I won't tell you how, but I established that.
And then I had to ask her what changed. She has always been rather adamant she would never get married because of things that happened when she was growing up, but she explained a few things.
Then finally, I quickly confirmed that she was still not interested in having kids (she's not) and then said I would marry her.0 -

then said I would marry her.
Congratulations!:T
Maybe don't see not having kids as a final decision? You seem to have done pretty well by the last lot - and enjoyed them by the sound of things.. . .I did not speak out
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me..
