Hours of fun to be had. Kids love dogs. I wonder who will be worn out first. I bet the dogs win.

My parents' border collies are the only beings that can tire my DS out - he leaves adults exhausted in his wake, but border collies have endless energy.

I know a 13 year old girl who detests One Direction, she's into Slipknot. If you offered One Direction, she'd bite you. Best forget music !
  • The Janoskians are the new 'in' boy band at the minute according to DD2....!!

Yes, it isn't going too bad. They've all gone out for a while and I had some work to attend to.

So far I have learned the following:

Our selection of breakfast options is apparently poor. It would seem that Frosties and Honey Loops are where it's at.

Despite attempting to purge all living areas of questionable material, such as DVDs of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Cannibal Apocalypse and The Last House on the Left, disaster can still strike when a wi-fi enabled stereo system linked to a Spotify account is switched on by an inquisitive eight year old and immediately begins playing Guns N' Roses 'Get in the Ring'. Luckily, I was close enough to the router just to kill the Internet connection at the time :)

Thirteen year old girls apparently watch Game of Thrones, and are in fact so fond of the show that when your phone ringtone is the White Noise Lab version of the main theme, they will complain when you answer your phone because you are stopping the music.

On a similar note, owning several guitars but being unable to play the main theme to Game of Thrones yourself is lame and "nobody" has ever heard of The Godfather theme, so that isn't a suitable alternative.

If any of my dogs go missing, I know who to report to the police.

My partner's car is "better" than mine because she owns a convertible.

Children still use the word "mong".

Harry Potter films are apparently the greatest thing ever committed to film.

Apparently an eight year old boy should be allowed to do whatever he wants because the parents of his peers allow his friends to do whatever they want; at least this is according to an eight year old boy, his mother seems to disagree.

My partner doesn't believe me when I tell her that I let the kids beat me at FIFA.

All very interesting, I'm sure you'll agree.

I have been unwell most of the week. Some sort of bizarre bug decided to cause me little in the way of cold-like symptoms, but a lot of back and neck pain, although that seems to have largely faded now. Thankfully, my partner has been nice enough to attend to me at night and in the morning. :)

ahhh yes, we should have warned you of the technology expertise of even the youngest child, and of the paragon that is 'everyone else's mum' Glad it's going well.

Well to be fair he just pressed the on button. I completely forgot the system automatically plays from the last playlist or album that was in use and so it would have been shrewd to have made sure that wasn't Use Your Illusion II.

I will say other than a few whiny "But muuuuuuuum" moments, the three children are surprisingly polite and well behaved. Their mother, partner's cousin, is also a pleasure to be around.
