So what are kids into these days?

Crikey it sounds as if your partner went through a horrific time when she was growing up. She is fortunate to now be sharing her life with you, and that you understand her so well and value her so much though. I really hope her cousins visit goes well and that this will be the start of a positive relationship between them all and yourselves. The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses. No one to lean on, rely on or blame. The gift is yours - it is an amazing journey - and you alone are responsible for the quality of it. This is the day your life really begins.0

Thanks
Yeah, she did have a tough time of it but thankfully most of the time she's moved past it all. She has bad dreams every now and again, she's even hit me a couple of times not realising where she was, but that's about the worst of it now.
And, she actually gave me some more info last night! I now know people's names and when they're actually coming. I do love the way she drip feeds information in this manner. I'm guessing about four weeks after they've left, I might have discovered whether they have any allergies I should know about.0 -
, making the mum doll hoover the lounge etc and rearranging the furniture. The original idea was to sort out the dolls house to ebay it but DD has now told me that she'd like to keep it just a little bit longer. :rotfl:
Time for some gender education - get the Dad doll to do the hoovering!
My mother's still got her dolls' house - it's in the fireplace in my parents' bedroom. Her Dad made it for her when she was 5, with doors that open, electric light, etc, and she still likes it (aged 64, rather than 11!)...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

Or maybe that's just mine.I do know what you mean though, as I have a very untypical teen boy, who doesn't own an ipod, isn't into music, never charges up or knows where his phone is and isn't interested in clothes.
You haven't heard of Mean Girls?!?! I don't know a teenage girl not obsessed with it....in the last week of term from Year 7 up to Year 11 they start carrying copies of it around school and hopefully waving it in your face at the start of each lesson (to be sadly disappointed though as contrary to popular belief we do NOT just watch DVDs in the last week :rotfl:)
It is actually quite a good film, even though I have sat through it dozens of times. Not sure I would show it to a 10 year old but I am apparently incredibly old fashioned in my views about what kids should and shouldn't watch.0 -
OP - "do all kids still all want to get up at 6am" :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: - I've only ever seen 6am with mine when I've set the alarm clock to go away on holiday!
Now she's 12, she's lucky to surface before 10am if she doesn't need to (I remember being exactly the same in my teens as well).0 -
I find Mean Girls has mixed messages to be honest Spendless - yes, the plastics do get their come-uppance, but the main character goes a long and painful way around getting to that result.
At 11 and 12 my DD likes it, I can't imagine she'll be that fussed with it in a couple of years time.0 -
Nope, my teen is a boy and see above ^^^^. No problems with my 10yo watching it. She's highly likely come across similar attitudes (with a younger age slant) in the classroom with the particular clique I mentioned earlier and has never had a problem seperating RL and fantasy. Hopefully they get their come-uppance in the film?
Oh it's not because of the attitudes I wouldn't show it to a 10 year old, but bits and pieces of sexual content and mild swearing. I think the certificate is a 12. As I said though I am hideously old fashioned in what I would and wouldn't show kids.0 -

10am is better but still a bit early for me.0 -

Oh dear, good luck then. The 11 and 13 year old will probably sleep in. The 8 year old may be up at the crack of dawn. My youngest is near that age and wakes up around 6am. There is nothing like appreciating the dawn chorus, whilst trying to pull yourself awake over a strong coffee :cool:The best day of your life is the one on which you decide your life is your own, no apologies or excuses.
