Clicking Expired Instead Of PMing A BG For A Merge?

Hello There,

A passing BG Browntoa just recommended on a thread that needed to be merged because it was a dupe, to click expired so it gets off the board

As we only have Glad & a little bit of Dalekrist (hope you get your OP soon & feel better) would it be a good idea for the time being if you see a dupe to link the original like we do now showing it's a dupe on the forum then ask people to click expired instead of requesting a BG merge?

I thought it a good idea so we can give the BG's less to do at the moment while we are low on them

Or do you think too many will disappear?

In all honesty I cannot see this as the way forward re dupes.The same goes for deleting dupes or editing them so they are not viewable.

The merge is required for clarity & to ensure that members do not disqualify themselves.

If each OP takes some responsibility & edits their dupe post when it is spotted the likelihood of duplication of entry is reduced ie as I have done here.
If the merge then takes a while to sort it is very clear that there is an issue with the thread.

As yet no Comp Board BG has asked for action such as this & personally I think we should wait for such a request before we begin to alter our conduct in such a way.

hi, I think it's a great idea Luckyone,

if we spot a dupe, link it to the original & ask everyone to expire,

we do it on dailies that are duped & that way if peeps press on the 'expired' they'll go to GO & help keep the boards clean
just my humbles x

hi, I've done that a few times but 9 out of 10 times the ops don't come back/don't reply/don't amend

as Browntoa is a BG & knows the ropes I personally would
rather take advice from someone like Browntoa x
