looking through GO there's loads without
End dates going in there every day, so who's putting them
there if a BG isn't,
peeps all must be pressing expired xplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
it was just a suggestion for that one thread
don't want to tread on the other BG's toes
hi Browntoa, don't think anyone would think that on here x
we just need some help/advice what to do while we've only one BG on here at the moment who's not well & one BG who isn't receiving messages as it says on the thread x
i'm open to all suggestions just to try to help keep the comps board in order xplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
Perhaps while we're short of BG's if we see a duplicate we post the link for the other onto each respective thread...
That way the competition is there still but people are aware it's duplicated and can check their thanks on the other one.
If they ignore it and enter twice it's their problem.
The thread can then be expired as normal at end date...
It's no ideal, but it lifts the load even temporarily.0 -

Just shows how things can be taken literally around here:rotfl:
May be time for the compers to take a breath & just carry on as we were?
Or at least send a merge request & not just expire the thread?0 -

great idea, we could do that
if Glads not receiving messages as mimi says & we can only send them to Dalkirst, should we maybe not send him the merge & just leave them on the boards until someone/BG comes on to say we can send them now,
hope that makes senseplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -

And does everyone read second or third posts and realise it's a duplicate?
Some OP's may not spot the dupe note but given that the dupe is often spotted when the thread is on page one I think most would/should.0 -

some ops do come back & do it but more times they don't
there's a thread somewhere discussing dupe posts etc

Maybe if members took responsibility for their posts they would probably spot the dupe note & would then edit the post & title. That way it would be clear that it was a dupe.

I try very hard not to duplicate, but it still happens occasionally.
The duplication can happen on the same day, or weeks apart even, and with the amount of competitions that get posted every day, not everyone will be around enough to realise they've posted a duplicate...
As we know, not everyone comps in the same way, or in a regular pattern.
It would be good if those who post did check, but that's not going to happen in reality...0
