Removal of competitions that have ended

Options
There are only 2 active BGs on the comps board at the moment and with so much for them to do removal of old comps is being left by the way side.

Obviously this is totally understandable as they have so much to do already so would it be possible to enable a member to have the same permissions as the BGs just to remove comps that have ended on the competitions board?

Previously a few of us went through them all one by one and expired them but there are now 2/3 even 400 per day and it's just taking an eternity to do.

Thank you :)

There appear to be 4 BG's currently assigned to the Comp. boards.

3 of them have visited MSE within the last 24 hours, and the other about a week ago (perhaps she is currently on holiday?)

Mrs Tine was only temporary over the Christmas period, admin just haven't removed her name yet and Divadee isn't actively Bg'ing due to other issues presently.
That leaves Glad and Dalkirst as the only active Bg's :)

    I totally agree.

Although there are 4 BG's listed one has stopped being a BG at the moment & the other one was only temporary for last xmas rush. This leaves just two people doing all the work. Because there are more competitions listed & many more people on the competitions forum now due to a big competitions website stopping listing competitions early this year, this means more work for the BG's & some things do not get done because they are just too busy.

We now have many more competitions posted each day due mainly to FB & twitter. This means that there are at least 200 competitions posted each day. This means that you soon have a back log of competitions that have expired.

What has been happening in the past is a few people check through & click expired on the finished comps. This was O.K for a while, but now because of the huge amount of competitions posted no one can keep on top of it any more.

The only way I can see to help the situation re expired competitions is if someone from the competitions board was given the role of deleting expired competitions with one click, where as at the moment it need a few clicks from different people to send it to game over.

This would make the board run much smoother for everyone & take up less time for the people who volunteer.

Also what would make the main competitions board run much smoother is if we could have a sub section to post Twitter Competitions & another one for FB competitions, this way the main competition board will flow a lot faster & people who do not use FB or Twitter will not have to wade through so many competitions they are not going to enter

Coming back to the lack of BG's if we can have one person who can expire all the old competitions this would be great & one more pair of hands as a general BG like the two hard working ones we have now.

I think one of the main problems is that people post about 10 different topics in a bunch over a period of 5 minutes rather than bunching them into just one topic.

This has the effect of having to wade through pages and pages of posts for a single day however I do not see any real alternative since titles have to show what could be won..

It has to be done this way as each competition needs a heading saying what the prize is. Plus each competition has a different end date how would we know which ones to send to game over? we wouldn't.

If someone posted all the competitions they found in ten minuets in one post no one would know what the prize was & would be totally confused

We just need to septate the twitter & FB competitions onto their own sub board this will make the main baord flow so much better.

Then it's your choice if you click onto one of the two sub boards to enter those competitions from FB or Twitter

This way you will not see so many competitions posted all at once as they will be spread out on the main board & the two sub boards

There does seem to be a delay moving comps to game over compared to when I used to comp. Also, a lot of comps have a very short entry time, especially Twitter ones.

Would it be possible to lower the number of expired clicks required for some members who have been around the comp boards for a long time and appreciate how it operates?

(Not part of the main discussion but I would prefer to keep the TW&FB comps on the main board;)).

The clicks have already been lowered, but it still means trawling through hundreds of comps to expire them on a daily basis.

Bg's can expire them 200 at once but with only 2 active they already have enough on their plates

If we had say 15 regulars able to one click on the expired it could be achieved though and the BGs would still be able to bulk move where time allowed.

If we have 2 currently active board guides they can't possibly cover everything so my thinking was to share the load a bit :D.

Why have 15 regulars able to one click on a expired comp each & every single comp bear in mind now 200 a day soon adds up to hundreds that need clicking every day, when one person who can be given the ability to click & expire 200 at a time?

It's a waste of the 15 peoples time & energy when one person could do it in a few swift clicks almost all at once

So do I, I end date comp so don't want to be going through multiple boards - I already hate the regular boards or whatever it's called and never go in that, would be even worse with even more of a split board.

Back on topic, can't 2 new board guides just be appointed to replace the 2 who aren't doing it? Surely that is a simple solution?! presuming there are some who have the time that is.

I hardly ever click expired because it takes too many clicks back to get back to the board.. and my pc is slow enough as it is.
